Introduction
- Do you know there are 16 million fishers and fish farmers whose livelihood depends on the fisheries and aquaculture.
- This sector is registering a huge growth and as per the statistics, in the last five years this sector YoY growth is 10.88%
- Whereas in terms of export this sector is standing tall at 13.93 lakh metric tones, which is equivalent to 46,589 Cr.
- Envisaging great potential in the sector, the government announced the PM Matsya Samapda Yojana in its 2019-2020 budget and launched it in the year 2020.
- Under this, the government aim to build a robust management and regulatory for the fish sector, which will ensure the social, physical and economic security of the fish farmers.
- For its implementation, the government allocates Rs 20,050 Cr for a period of five years from FY 2020-21 to FY 2024-25.
- Government aim to use the fisheries sector potential in a sustainable, fair, and accountable manner.
- By doing this, they aim to enhance the production and productivity.
- They also want to strengthen and modernise the value chain of the fisheries sector and for this they need to work on the post harvesting management and its quality.
- With its successful implementation, they are looking to double the income of the fish farmers and fishers.
- They firmly believe that, upon its successful implementation this sector is able to generate 55 lakhs new employment opportunities.
- In terms of production, the government aim to increase the fish production in the country to 22 million from 13.75 metric tons and increase the average aquaculture in the country to 5 tons from current 3 tons.
- Whereas, in terms of Economics valuation, they aim to increase the GVA contribution of fisheries sector to 9% from 7.28%.
- PMMSY is an umbrella scheme which will be implemented under two components namely Central Sector Scheme (CS) and Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS).
- Under CS the entire project is funded by the central government whereas under CSS the project cost will be shard by the state and centre.

- Development corporation of fisheries.
- SHGs and JLGs in fisheries sector.
- Fisheries cooperative and federation.
- Private firms and entrepreneur.
- Organisation and companies of fish farmers producer

- Person with physical disability
Documents Required
- To Apply for the PM Matsya Sampada Yojana, the beneficiary must possess some of their documents which are given as: -

How to apply
- Eligible and interested beneficiary may submit their PM Matsya Sampada Application Proposal offline.
- Those who want to apply for Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) may follow the given process:
- Submit a triplicate copy of DPR or Self Contained Proposal (SCP).
- From these, submit one copy to Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying of GOI and other two copies to NFDB.
- Along with this, submit a duplicate copy of DPR/SCP to:
- The Chief Executive, National Fisheries Development Board, Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, Pillar No: 235, PVNR Expressway, SVPNPA Post, Hyderabad-500052
