Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme

Introduction

• In our country, many widows face big challenges after losing their spouse. Society often does not accept them and criticizes them.
• To improve their quality of life, they should have the opportunity to remarry.
• The Government of Tamil Nadu has introduced the "Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme" to promote the remarriage of widows and facilitate their rehabilitation.
• Tamil Nadu Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Department is the nodal department of Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme.
• Financial assistance will be provided to widows upon their remarriage.
• There are two following categories defined for beneficiaries under Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme:-
  • Graduates widow.
  • Non-Graduates widows.
• Under this scheme, Non-Graduate widow will receive financial assistance of Rs. 25,000/-.
• While Graduate widow will receive financial assistance of Rs. 50,000/-.
• Additionally, both Graduate and Non-Graduate widow will receive a 22-carat gold coin weighing 8 grams for Thirumangalyam.
• Beneficiaries can avail the benefits of the Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme by applying through the Common Service Center (CSC).

Benefits of the Scheme

• Under Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme following benefits will be provided to the eligible beneficary:-

  Beneficary	Benefits
  For Non Graduate	Financial Assistance of Rs. 25,000/- Rs. 15,000/- through Electronic Clearing Service. Rs. 10,000/- as National Savings Certificate. 8 Grams 22 Carat Gold Coin.
  For Graduate and Diploma Holder	Financial Assistance of Rs. 50,000/- Rs. 30,000/- through Electronic Clearing Service. Rs. 20,000/- as National Savings Certificate. 8 Grams 22 Carat Gold Coin.

Eligibility Criteria

• Those who fulfill all the conditions given below are eligible to apply for "Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme"
  • Should be a Resident of Tamil Nadu.
  • Age of Bride should be 20 Years.
  • Age of Bridegroom should be 40 years or less than 40 years.
  • No Income Limit.
  • No Minimum Educational Qualification Required.

• The following documents are required at the time of apply for the Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme:-
  • Age Proof of Bride and Bride Groom.
  • Death Certificate of 1st Husband.
  • Marriage Photo.
  • Family Card.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Marriage Certificate of 2nd Marriage.
  • Widow Certificate.
  • Marriage Invitation.
  • Community Certificate.
  • Residence proof
  • Bride Educational Certificate.

How to Apply

• To avail the benefit of Tamil Nadu Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme, beneficiary can apply through nearest Common Service Center.
• The agent fill the form and upload the required document on behalf of the beneficiary.
• After that the Application Form and Documents of the beneficiary will be scrutinized by the District Social Welfare Officer.
• Beneficiary will be informed through SMS or Email in case of accept and reject of the application.
• Once accepted, the amount of financial assistance will be transferred into the bank account of beneficiary.

Features of the Scheme

• Widows seeking benefits under the Dr. Dharmambal Ammaiyar Ninaivu Widow Remarriage Assistance Scheme must apply within 6 months from the date of their remarriage.
• The minimum age for the bride is 20 years and the bridegroom should be 40 years or younger at the time of application.
• There are two categories for widows to avail benefits under this scheme:-
  • Non-graduates widows are eligible for assistance of Rs. 25,000/-
  • Graduates and diploma holders widows are eligible for assistance of Rs. 50,000/-
• There are following categories of education qualification:-
  • For cash assistance of Rs. 25,000/-, there is no educational qualification required.
  • For cash assistance of Rs. 50,000/-, widow should be a graduation degree holder or diploma holder.
