Uttar Pradesh government announced Rs 500 monthly pension for triple talaq victims last year. The state minority department had started the process of identifying the same.

The UP government has made the first effort towards granting Rs. 6,000 per annum to triple talaq victims. While the budget presented on 19th February 2020 had no particular head for it, the minority department officials told TOI that the grant would be provided after reappropriation of funds.

Officials said that this re-appropriation of funds, will come from budgetary heads such as boundary walls for cemeteries and other miscellaneous heads.

Shesh Nath Pandey, joint director, minority welfare department said "In this regard the decision of cabinet and order of government is awaited but survey of 63 districts has been already carried out by the department and a detailed lists of triple talaq victims is ready".

Since a budget head cannot be made until the government order is released, work in the area will continue till the GO comes. Pandey added. "The detailed survey lists from 12 more districts are yet to come but we will re-appropriate funds from other heads till a separate head is made by the government."
