Introduction

  • India has a long history of wars in which many bravehearts lost their life while safeguarding the dignity and integrity of the Country.
  • One of the major war fought by Indian Armed Forces with our greatest rival Pakistan is 1965 War and 1971 War.
  • Lots of Indian Soldier laid down their lives in these two wars.
  • Now after so many years Government of India started a welfare scheme for those who survived the 1965 or 1971 war majorly known as war veterans.
  • Yudh Samman Yojana will going to start to commemorate our Bravehearts for their service.
  • The other poplar name of this scheme is Yudh Samman Scheme.
  • One Time Lump Sump Financial Assistance will be provided under Yudh Samman Yojana to all soldiers who fought either 1965 or 1971 war with Pakistan.
  • Rs. 15 Lakh will be provided under Yudh Samman Yojana to all eligible Ex-Servicemen/ War Veterans.
  • Ex-Service Personnel from any of the below mentioned rank is eligible to get Financial Assistance Rs. 15 Lakh under Yudh Samman Yojana :-
    • Regular Commissioned Officers.
    • Short Service Commissioned Officers.
    • Emergency Commissioned Officers.
    • Personnel Below Officer Rank.
  • Also any Civilian Personnel who actively take part in 1965 or 1971 war are also eligible to get monetary assistance under Yudh Samman Yojana.
  • The mandatory eligibility conditions of Yudh Samman Scheme is that Ex-Servicemen should be the recipient of Samar Seva Star Medal or Paschami/ Poorvi Star Medal.
  • Yudh Samman Yojana benefits will also provided to War Veterans of Central Armed Police Personnel. (CAPF)
  • In case of death of Ex-Servicemen, their living spouse can apply under Yudh Samman Yojana of Central Government.
  • Yudh Samman Yojana is not active yet and will going to launch soon.
  • Ministry of Defence and Ministry of Home Affairs sent a proposal to all forces to submit the list of all Ex-Servicemen who took part in 1965 or 1971 war.
  • Once the war veteran list received by respective ministries from forces, the approval process of Yudh Samman Yojana will be started.
  • Benefits of Yudh Samman Yojana to Army, Navy and Airforce Ex-Servicemen will be provided through District Soldier Welfare Board which comes under Department of Ex-Services Welfare, Ministry of Defence.
  • And Yudh Samman Yojana Benefits to CAPF Ex-Servicemen Personnel will be provided through District CAPF Welfare and Rehabilitation Board which comes under Ministry of Home Affairs.
  • Application Form of Yudh Samman Yojana can collected from the respective boards.

Benefits of Scheme

  • Central Government will provide the following benefits to all Ex-Servicemen who took part in 1965 or 1971 War under Yudh Samman Yojana :-
    • One Time Financial Assistance will be Provided.
    • Lump Sump Amount of Rs. 15 Lakh will be given to all Eligible Ex-Servicemen.

Forces Eligible

  • Ex-Servicemen/ War Veteran who fought 1965 or 1971 war while serving in any of the below mentioned forces are only eligible to avail the benefit of Yudh Samman Yojana :-
    • Armed Forces :-
      • Army.
      • Navy.
      • Airforce.
    • Central Armed Police Forces :-
      • Border Security Force. (BSF)
      • Indo Tibbetan Border Force. (ITBP)
      • Central Industrial Security Force. (CISF)
      • Shashatra Seema Bal. (SSB)
      • Central Reserve Police Force. (CRPF)
      • Assam Rifles. (AR)

Format of Submitting the Information of Ex-Servicemen

  • All Armed Forces and Central Armed Forces will have to submit all the details of their Ex-Servicemen who fought in 1965 or 1971 war in a format as mentioned below :-

Eligibility Criteria

  • One time financial assistance of Rs. 15 Lakh under Central Government's Yudh Samman Yojana will only provided to those Ex-Servicemen who fulfil the following eligibility criteria :-
    • Applicant should be an Ex-Servicemen of any below mentioned category :-
      • Emergency Commissioned Officer. (ECO) OR
      • Short Service Commissioned Officer. (SSCO) OR
      • Regular Commissioned Officer. (RCO) OR
      • Personnel Below Officer Rank. (PBRO) OR
      • Civilian Personnel.
    • Ex-Servicemen should be Actively Participated in 1965 or 1971 War.
    • Ex-Servicemen should be a recipient of any of the following Awards Medals :-
      • Samar Seva Star Medal. OR
      • Poorvi/ Paschami Star Medal.
    • Personnel of Armed Forces including Para Military Forces are Eligible to Apply.
    • In case of Demise of Ex-Servicemen, Spouse can Apply.

Documents Required

  • Documents that are required to be attached at the time of applying for one time financial assistance of Rs. 15 Lakh under Yudh Samman Yojana are mentioned below :-
    • Aadhar Card.
    • Mobile Number.
    • Bank Account Details.
    • Ex-Servicemen Card/ Number.

How to Apply

  • Ex-Servicemen of Armed Forces and Ex-Servicemen of Central Armed Police Forces who participated in1965 or 1971 war can apply for Yudh Samman Yojana through their respective boards as mentioned below :-
    • District Soldier Welfare Board. (For Armed Forces)
    • District CAPF Welfare and Rehabilitation Board. (For CAPF)

For Armed Forces Personnel

  • As we mentioned earlier that Yudh Samman Yojana is a proposal which is pending for approval.
  • So, right now mentioning the application procedure is not appropriate yet as it creates only confusion among our Heroes.
  • But the expected mode to apply to get Rs. 15 Lakh under Yudh Samman Yojana is through Offline Application Form.
  • Offline Application Form of Yudh Samman Yojana will be available in District Soldier Welfare Board once it got approved by Ministery of Defence.
  • Collect the Application Form, fill it carefully and attach all the required documents with it.
  • Submit the Yudh Samman Yojana Application Form along with all the details in the same Office of District Soldier Welfare Board.
  • Officials of the board will initially verify the received application form and documents.
  • List of War Veterans/ Ex Soldiers selected for financial assistance of Rs. 15 lakh under Yudh Samman Yojana will be forwarded to Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare for further approval.
  • Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare will then forward the Yudh Samman Yojana's selected Ex-Servicemen list to Ministry of Defence.
  • Ministry of Defence will give the final approval.
  • After final approval, the one time financial assistance of Rs. 15 Lakh under Yudh Samman Yojana will directly transfer in the bank account of Ex-Servicemen.
  • If Government will decide to accept online applications, then dedicated portal of yudh samman yojana can also be launched
  • As soon as Yudh Samman Yojana got approval, we will update the same.

For Central Armed Police Forces Personnel

  • Central Armed Police Forces Personnel can apply for Yudh Samman Yojana by filling the Application Form which is available in the District Office of CAPF Welfare and Rehabilitation Board.
  • Collect the Yudh Samman Scheme Application Form.
  • Attach all the required documents with the form.
  • Submit it in the Office of Welfare and Rehabilitation Board.
  • Officials will verify the application form and documents then make a list of selected Ex-Servicemen.
  • Selected List of Ex Servicemen CAPF Personnel will be forwarded to Ministry of Home Affairs for further approval.
  • Financial Assistance of Yudh Samman Yojana will be transferred in the bank account of war veteran of CAPF after Ministry of Home Affairs approved the Yudh Samman Yojana Application.
  • Ministry of Home Affairs sent a proposal to all Central Armed Police Forces to submit the list of Ex-Servicemen who took part in 1965 or 1971 war.
