Odisha Krushi Vidya Nidhi Scheme

Introduction

• The Bharatiya Janata Party announced the 'Odisha Krushi Vidya Nidhi' Scheme, to attract voters for the state assembly election.
• The main objective of the scheme is to extend scholarship benefits to farmer children's.
• However, the current state government already offers a similar scheme, called Kalia Scholarship.
• The benefits provided by the BJP scheme differ from those of the Kalia Scholarship.
• As per the Krushi Vidya Nidhi Scheme, the beneficiaries' children will receive a scholarship up to Rs 2,00,000/-, whereas Kalia Scholarship offers reimbursement.
• To qualify for the Krushi Vidya Nidhi Scheme, the condition applies that these students must be enrolled in government schools.
• Scholarship benefits will continue until the students complete their post graduation.
• Only those students who fulfills the eligibility conditions are eligible to apply for the scheme.
• According to the scheme, the children's of small and marginal farmers, along with agricultural laborers, are eligible.
• However, other criteria's of the Krushi Vidya Nidhi scheme have not been provided yet.
• The Krushi Vidya Nidhi scheme is part of the manifesto released by the Bharatiya Janata party.
• So, its benefits will only be extended, once the BJP wins the assembly election and forms the state government.
• While releasing the manifesto, the party president said that the schemes announced would be implemented within three months after taking charge.

Benefits of Scheme

• Under the Odisha Krushi Vidya Nidhi Scheme, the government aims to offer the following benefits: -
  • Beneficiary students will receive a scholarship up to Rs. 2,00,000/-
  • Scholarship will be provided to students studying in government schools till post graduation.

Eligibility Criteria

• Beneficiaries who will fulfill the criteria issued under the Odisha Krushi Vidya Nidhi Scheme, are eligible to receive its benefits. However, during the scheme announcement, details about its eligibility are not shared, except some that we have shared here. Once we get its details then then the same will be informed here: -
  
  • Children's of small and marginal farmers are eligible for the scheme.
  • Additionally, children of agricultural labourers are eligible.
  • These children must be studying in government schools.
  • Only state domiciled students are eligible.
  • Students receiving benefits of other scholarships will not be eligible for this scheme.
  • The annual family income must be within the limits prescribed in the guidelines.
