Introduction

  • Most of the population of Uttar Pradesh lives in rural areas, dependent on agriculture and animal husbandry for their livelihood.
  • Uttar Pradesh governemnt has implemented several schemes from time to time for people engaged in animal husbandry sector.
  • State government introduced 'Uttar Pradesh Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana' in 2023.
  • The scheme was implemented by Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry Development Department.
  • Under this scheme, the state government aims to promote high-yielding dairy cows and other cattle breeds in the region.
  • Government will provide assistance for establishing units with high-yielding dairy cattle breeds.
  • The scheme will be implemented in phases.
  • In the first phase, 35 units of 25 cows each will be established.
  • Beneficiaries can set up units with a maximum investment of 62 lakhs.
  • These units will primarily operate in the headquarters of ten districts across the state, i.e, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Jhansi, Meerut, Agra, Bareilly, and Kanpur.
  • Under the project, 50% of the total cost will be provided as a grant by the state government.
  • Beneficiaries can obtain 35% of total cost as a loan by bank, while the remaining 15% must be self-financed.
  • The grant provided by the state government will be disbursed to beneficiaries in three installments:-
    • In first installment, applicant receive 50% of the total grant when the basic structure is done.
    • In second installment, applicant receive a 25% of the money after buying the cows.
    • In final installment, remaining grant is given when some of the cows have babies.
  • Applications for the scheme can be made offline by eligible beneficiaries.
  • Under the scheme, beneficiaries can establish units with either Sahiwal, Gir, or Tharparkar breeds, or a mix of these breeds.
  • For this, beneficiary will receive 50% of the total cost of Rs 62,50,000 i.e. Rs 31,25,000 as grant.
  • Similarly, for units with a maximum of 20 cows of Sahiwal, Gir, or Tharparkar breeds along with up to 5 cows of Gangatiri breed, the beneficiary will receive 50% of the total cost of Rs 61,00,000 i.e. Rs 30,50,000 as grant.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Beneficiary must fulfill all the conditions mentioned below to apply for the 'Uttar Pradesh Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana':-
    • Applicant should be a resident of Uttar Pradesh. Prefrence will be given to the female applicants from the state.
    • Adhaar card is mandatory to apply for the scheme.
    • Applicant must have at least 3 year of experience in cattle or buffalo rearing, certified by the Chief Veterinary Officer.
    • The beneficiary should have 0.5 acre of land to set up the unit.
    • Applicant must have at least 1.5 acres of land to grow food for the animals. This land should either belong to them or be rented for at least seven years.
    • Beneficiaries who have already availed the benefits of Kamdhenu, Mini Kamdhenu, or Micro Kamdhenu scheme will not be eligible for this scheme.
    • If the cattle are purchased from outside the state then it is necessary to have ear tagging and insurance of the purchased cattle.

    • Domicile Certificate.
    • Passport Size Photo.

    • Documents related to registered fodder land.
    • Certificate issued by veterinary officer.
    • Documents related to unit establishment.

How to Apply

  • Beneficiaries can apply for the Uttar Pradesh Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana through an offline application form.
  • Applicants need to visit the nearest Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer to collect an offline application form.
  • After collecting the application form, the applicant has to fill it out correctly and attach all required documents.
  • After that, they should submit the application form to the Office of the Chief Veterinary Officer.
  • Approval for the establishment of a cattle breeding unit will be given after the verification of the application form and all documents.
  • If there are more applications received for a district, the selection of the beneficiary will be done through the e-lottery system.
