Karnataka Prabhuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme

Introduction

• Karnataka Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme is major education welfare scheme of Government of Karnataka.
• Department of Social Welfare of Karnataka Government is the nodal department of this scheme.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to assist students to pursue their higher education from foreign universities.
• Under Karnataka Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme, Government of Karnataka will provide below mentioned benefits to eligible students :-
  • Full Tuition Fees of Student will be paid by Government of Karnataka.
  • Rs. 8 Lakh per year or 75% of Actual Cost will be given to student as maintenance allowance.
  • Cost of Medical Insurance will be borne by Government.
  • Rs. 1 Lakh per Year will be provided for Books and Other Miscellaneous Allowance.
  • Full VISA Fees and AIR PASSAGE (AIR TICKETS) Fees will be paid by Government.
• Students belongs to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe are only eligible to apply for scholarship under this scheme.
• Any Student who want to pursue Undergraduate Course, Post Graduate Course or Doctoral Course from Foreign University can apply for Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
• Scholarship under Karnataka Prabuddha Scholarship Scheme will be available for the students studying the following courses :-
  • Engineering.
  • Management.
  • Pure Science.
  • Applied Science.
  • Agricultural Science and Medicine.
  • International and Commerce.
  • Economics.
  • Accounting Finance.
  • Humanities.
  • Social Science.
  • Fine Arts.
  • Law.
• Scholarship will be granted to 250 Undergraduate Students, 150 Post Graduate and PhD Students.
• It is mandatory to cleared the GRE/ GMAT/ TOEFL/ IELTS Exam and secured the admission in Top 325 Ranking Universities of the world.
• 33% Seat for Women Students and 5% Seat for Physically Handicapped Students are reserved.
• Eligible Students can apply for scholarship under Karnataka Prabuddha Scholarship Scheme throughout the year.
• Students can apply for Karnataka Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme through Online Application Form of Karnataka Prabhuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme which is available on the portal of Karnataka Department of Social Welfare and Karnataka Pre Examination Training Centre Website.

Benefits of Scheme

• The following benefits will be provided to eligible students under Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme of Karnataka Government :-

  Full Tuition Fees will be Paid by Government. Maintenance Allowance of Rs. 8,00,000/- per year or 75% of Actual Amount. Medical Insurance as per actual amount. Rs. 1,00,000/- per year will be given for Books and Other Miscellaneous Allowance. Full VISA Fees will be Paid. Free AIR PASSAGE.

• The scholarship will be provided to students according to their income category as mentioned below :-

  Income Category	Amount of Assistance
  Annual Income up to Rs. 8 Lakhs	100% of Scholarship
  Annual Income from Rs. 8 Lakhs to Rs. 15 Lakhs	50% of Scholarship
  Annual Income above Rs. 15 Lakh	33% of Scholarship

Eligibility

• Applicant should be a Resident of Karnataka.
• Applicant should belong to Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe Category.
• Applicant Age Limit should be :-
  • 21 Years for Undergraduate Course.
  • 35 Years for Post Graduate and Doctoral Course.
• Applicant should have below mentioned minimum marks in previous examination :-
  • 80% Marks in Previous Exam for Under Graduate Course.
  • 55% Marks in Previous Exam for Post Graduation and Doctoral Course.
• Applicant should clear any one of the following exam :-
  • GRE.
  • GMAT.
  • TOEFL.
  • IELTS.
• Applicant should secure admission in World Top 325 University.

How to Apply

• Eligible Students can apply for Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme of Karnataka through Online Application Form which is available at Karnataka Pre Examination Training Centre Website.
• Click on Apply Button available in the portal.
• Enter Your Aadhar Number, Name and Click on Next.
• Fill the following details step wise in the Application Form of Karnataka Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme :-
  • Caste and Income Details.
  • Personal Details.
  • Academic Details of India.
  • Details of Proposed Study in Foreign University.
  • Details of Funds Required.
  • Passport Details.
  • Contact Details.
  • Upload the Documents.
• Click on Submit Button to Submit the Application Form.
• Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme Application Form and Documents will be forwarded to District Social Welfare Officer for verification.
• After Verification, Tuition Fees and Maintenance allowance will be transferred in the bank account of University.
• Other Allowance will be directly paid to the student by the department.

Features of the Scheme

• The duration of financial assistance under Karnataka Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme will be :-
  • For Post Graduation :- 2 Years OR Completion of Course. (Whichever is earlier)
  • For Graduation :- 4 Years OR Completion of Course. (Whichever is earlier)
  • For Ph.D :- 4 Years OR Completion of Course. (Whichever is earlier)
• Scholarship under Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme will available to only those students who secure the admission in world top 325 ranking universities.
• Only Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe students are eligible to apply and avail the benefit of Karnataka Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
• The maximum age limit to avail the benefit of Prabuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme is 21 years for Graduation and 35 years for Post Graduation and Ph.D.
• Unconditional Offer Letter from Foreign University will be required to apply for Prabhuddha Overseas Scholarship Scheme.
