Introduction

• Himachal Pradesh Government is well known for its welfare schemes for the people.
• Before the assembly election, Congress party promise to provide monthly assistance to women of Himachal Pradesh if party comes to power.
• Now there is a Congress Party Government in Himachal Pradesh, so the party fulfilled their promise.
• Himachal Pradesh Government started Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana in the State.
• It was launched in the year 2023.
• The main objective behind launching Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana is to empower women financially by providing them monthly financial assistance.
• This scheme is also called "Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Scheme".
• Under Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana, Government of Himachal Pradesh is going to provide monthly financial assistance of Rs. 1,500/- per month to all the eligible women beneficiaries of Himachal Pradesh.
• Women can spent this financial assistance on their daily house expenses.
• Only those women are eligible to get fianancial assistance under Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana whose age is between 18 years to 60 years.
• Buddhist Nuns residing at Buddhist Monastery is also eligible to get financial assistance of Rs. 1,500/- per month.
• Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana will be implemented by Government of Himachal Pradesh in phases.
• Lahaul and Spiti District will be covered in First Phase of this scheme.
• But due to some reason this scheme was unable to implement in other areas of the state.
• In order to extend the benefits of the scheme to women from other areas, the state government amended the scheme in March 2024 and launched the same for the entire state.
• While amending the scheme, the Chief Minister has changed the name of "Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana" to "Himachal Pradesh Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh-Samman Nidhi Yojana".
• Now under this new scheme, women of other districts who were unable to avail the benefits of this scheme can apply for the scheme.
• Eligible Women Beneficiary can apply for financial assistance by filling the Application Form of Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana or now known as Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh-Samman Nidhi Yojana.

Benefits

• The following financial assistance will be provided to eligible women beneficiaries under Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana :-
  • Financial Assistance of Rs. 1,500/- per Month.

Eligibility

• Women should be a Permanent Resident of Himachal Pradesh.
• The Age of Women should be between 18 Years to 60 Years.
• Buddhist Nuns are also eligible for Financial Assistance.

Documents Required

• The below mentioned documents will be required to avail the benefit of Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana :-
  • Residence Proof of Himachal Pradesh.
  • Age Proof/ Birth Certificate.
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Ration Card.
  • Passport Size Photo.
  • Bank/ Post Office Account Details.
  • Proof of being a Buddhist Nun.

How to Apply

• Eligible Women Beneficiaries can apply for financial assistance under Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana by filling the Offline Application Form.
• Application Form of Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana is available free of cost at the office of Tehsil Welfare Officer or District Welfare Officer.
• Fill the Application Form of Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana / Indira Gandhi Pyari Behna Sukh-Samman Nidhi Yojana Application form carefully and attach all the required documents with it.
• Submit the Application Form along with the all the document in the office of Tehsil Welfare Officer or District Welfare Officer.
• Application Form and Documents will be thoroughly scrutinized by the concerned officials.
• After initial verification, Application Form of Indira Gandhi Mahila Samman Nidhi Yojana will be forwarded to Additional Commissioner for further approval.
• After final approval, financial assistance of Rs. 1,500/- per month will be transferred in the beneficiaries bank account.
• After that the financial assistance will be transferred in the bank account of beneficiary on half yearly basis.
