Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme

Introduction

• Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme is the scheme for the welfare of women and child of Karnataka State.
• It was started in the year 2006.
• Department of Women and Child Development of Karnataka Government is the nodal department of this scheme.
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to encourage the birth of girl child and reduce the female foeticide.
• This scheme is also called as "Karnataka Bhagyalaxmi Scheme".
• Karnataka Government will deposit the financial assistance in the name of girl child at the time of her birth.
• Rs. 19,300/- will be deposited in the name of first girl child birth.
• Then at the time of maturity the first girl child will receive Rs. 1,00,097/- when she attains the age of 18 years.
• Similarly Rs. 18,350/- will be deposited in the name of second girl child at the time of her birth.
• When second girl child attains the age of 18 years, she will receive Rs. 1,00,052/- after claiming the amount under Bhagyalakshmi Scheme.
• It's on Girl Beneficiary whether use this Bhagyalakshmi Scheme Financial Assistance for her higher education or for her marriage expenses.
• Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme maturity amount will be claimed by girl beneficiary only after :-
  • When Girl attain the age of 18 Years.
  • Girl minimum qualification should be Class 8th.
  • Girl should not be married at the time of claim.
• Financial Assistance in Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme will only be given to 2 Girl Child.
• LIC is the money keeper of this scheme.
• All the maturity claim will be settled by the LIC.
• Girl Beneficiary can apply in LIC to claim her maturity amount of Bhagyalakshmi Scheme.
• Eligible Beneficiaries can enroll themselves through Bhagyalakshmi Scheme Application Form to avail the benefit of Scheme.

Benefits of Scheme

• The following benefits will be given to women beneficiaries for their girl child under Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme :-
  • Financial Assistance will be provided on the birth of a girl child.
  • Rs. 19,300/- will be deposited at the time of first girl child birth.
  • Rs. 1,00,097/- will be given to first girl child after attaining the age of 18 years.
  • Rs. 18,350/- will be deposited at the time of second girl child birth.
  • Rs. 1,00,052/- will be given to second girl child after attaining the age of 18 years.

Eligibility

• Beneficiaries who fulfils the below mentioned eligibility conditions are eligible to avail the benefit of Bhagyalakshmi Scheme of Karnataka Government :-
  • Beneficiary should be Residents of Karnataka.
  • Beneficiary Family should be belong to BPL Category.
  • Benefits will only be given for Birth of 2 Girl Child.
  • Girl Child should be born after 01.08.2008.

Document Required

• Documents that are required to be attached with the Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme Application Form are as follows :-
  • Birth Certificate of Child.
  • BPL Card.
  • Joint Photograph of Parents and Child.
  • Marriage Certificate or Self Declaration.
  • Bank Account Details.
  • Family Planning Certificate. (If Availing Benefit for 2nd Child).

How to Apply

• The only way to avail the benefit of Karnataka Bhagyalakhsmi Scheme is through Offline Application Form.
• Application Form of Karnataka Bhagyalakshmi Scheme is available free of cost at any Gram Panchayat Office or Anganwadi Center.
• Collect Bhagyalakshmi Scheme Application Form from Angandwadi Center or Gram Panchayat Office.
• Fill the Application Form properly and attach all the required documents.
• Submit it to the Anganwadi Center or Gram Panchayat Office.
• Application Form and all the documents will be verify by the concerned authority.
• List of Women Beneficiary Selected for Bhagyalakshmi Scheme benefits will be made then.
• Once verified, the amount will be deposited in the name of girl child.
• The Maturity Amount of Bhagyalakshmi Scheme will only be claimed after the girl child attain the age of 18 years.
