Madhya Pradesh Grameen Path Roshan Yojana

Introduction

• The Madhya Pradesh government is working tirelessly for the benefits of lower middle class and unemployed youth of the state.
• In recent times, they have announced various schemes for their welfare and benefit.
• Among these, the state government has come up with a new scheme called 'Madhya Pradesh Grameen Path Roshan Yojana (MPGPRY)'.
• Under this scheme, the government aims to provide skills to the unemployed youth of the state.
• Whereby, eligible unemployed individuals will learn a new skill, enabling them to start their own business or provide services to industries.
• The scheme is also known by other name, such as 'MP Free Solar Rooftop training yojana'.
• The main objective of this initiative is to hone skills of these unemployed youth, which will help them to secure employment.
• Under the Madhya Pradesh Grameen Path Roshan Yojana, the government will provide free training for the installation of rooftop solar plants.
• Since the announcement of PM Surya Ghar Yojana, many households have shown interest in rooftop solar installations.
• However, industry requires trained technicians for such installation. In wake of this, the MP government has started Grameen Path Roshan Yojana.
• After receiving free training, beneficiaries can either start their own business or find job that fits as per the acquired skills.
• Additionally, the government is providing bank loan facilities to each eligible youth.
• With the received bank loan, eligible youth can install rooftop solar plant up to 10 kw.
• Installed solar plants, can generate around 40 to 50 units of electricity, enough to light up 20 street lights.
• The produced electricity can be deposited in the power grid through on grid net solar meters.
• Training under the Grameen Path Roshan Yojana will be provided by Bangalore based foundation 'Udyam Learning'.
• Benefit of MP Gramin Path Roshan Yojana will be provided only to eligible youth who meet the required guidelines.
• The scheme is meant for only educated unemployed youth, age between 18-45 years.
• The nodal department of the scheme State Open School Education Board.
• For implementation, the board has released a fund of Rs 1 crore to the directorate of Public Instructions.
  

Benefits of Scheme

• Under the Madhya Pradesh Grameen Path Roshan Yojana, eligible beneficiaries will receive the following benefits : -
  • Free training to install a rooftop solar plant.
  • One youth from each village will also receive a loan facility for installation of a 10 kw solar plant.
  • The generated electricity will be used to power LED streetlights.

Eligibility Criteria

• Only eligible applicants can apply for the Grameen Path Roshan Yojana, whose details are given as : -
  • Applicant must be domiciled citizen of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Age of the applicants must be between 18 to 45 years.
  • Applicants must be unemployed.
  • Applicants must have completed their education up to class 10th.
