Introduction

  • Doing a pilgrimage once in a lifetime, especially in old age is a dream for many.
  • However, due to various reasons, these citizens are unable to fulfill their pilgrims dreams.
  • Some are lacking companions, and some don't have any information about the pilgrimage.
  • However, the major concern among them is financial constraints.
  • Addressing this issue, the Eknath Shinde government announced a new scheme known as 'Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana'.
  • Scheme announced on 29-June-2024, is also known by other names such as 'Maharashtra Pilgrimage scheme', 'Maharashtra Free Pilgrimage Scheme', and 'Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana'.
  • Under this scheme, the government aims to fulfill the pilgrimage dreams of senior citizens.
  • With this initiative, citizens of Maharashtra can travel to identified pilgrimage sites, regardless of their religion.
  • However, the pilgrimage sites to be covered under the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana are yet to be announced and are expected to be revealed in the scheme guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Though the Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana is for senior citizens, there are still some eligibility conditions that they need to fulfill, which are listed below. However, the criteria's listed below are tentative. If any possible changes are made by the government, the list will be updated accordingly.
    • Applicants should be a native citizens of Maharashtra.
    • Applicants should not be less than 60 years.
    • Income tax payee applicants are not eligible.
    • Applicants should not have receive the benefit of this scheme earlier.
    • Applicants should be mentally and physically sound for the journey (except disabled).
    • Detailed eligibility guidelines will be updated here once released officially.

  • To be eligible for the Maharashtra Mukhyamantri Teerth Darshan Yojana, beneficiary must produce their following documents :-
    • Aadhaar Card.
    • Age Proof.
    • Mobile Number.
    • Disability Certificate.
    • Medical Certificate.
    • Income Certificate (if any)
    • Ration Card.
    • Passport Size photograph.
    • Other documents as specified in the guidelines.

How to apply
