Introduction

Fertilizer Subsidy Scheme is a centrally funded scheme.
It has been launched by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi on 01 April 2022.
It is operated and and maintained by Department of Fertilizers.
The tag line of this scheme is PROSPEROUS FARMER, PROSPEROUS INDIA.
It's main objective is to provide Nutrient Based Subsidy (NBS) rates for Phosphatic and Potassic (P&K) fertilizers to the farmers.
At present it is a short term scheme for only Kharif Season.
It started from 01 of April 2022 and will end on 30th of September 2022.
The amount of subsidy approved by the government for this scheme is Rs. 60,939.23 crore.
The government has increased the subsidy by 50 percent per bag as compared to last year.

There has been a huge jump in the prices of fertilizers around the world.
And, Agriculture is the biggest source of livelihood in India.
Around 70 percent of India's population is still depend on agriculture for their livelihood.
Of these, 82 percent farmers are small and marginal.
To increase the production of their crops, to protect them from diseases, and to increase the fertility of the soil, farmers use fertilizers in their lands.
But due to very high prices of fertilizers, some farmers can't afford to buy the same.
This causes heavy loss to their crops and their lands.
Keeping this in mind, Government of India provide huge amount of subsidy on fertilizers to the farmers every year
This will help the farmers and make them able to buy fertilizer at subsidized rates.
Fertilizers Subsidy Scheme 2022 gives farmers an opportunity to buy fertilizers bag on a very low rates as comparison to the rates in market.
In this scheme government will provide subsidy on the purchase of Phosphatic and Potassic (P & K) Fertilizers to the farmers.
The maximum amount of subsidy is on DAP Fertilizer i.e. Rs. 2,501.
The minimum amount of subsidy is on MOP Fertilizer i.e. Rs. 759.
This will help the farmers to procure the required quantity of fertilizers for their agricultural fields.

Under this scheme farmers will directly get the subsidized fertilizers on the government managed Sehkari Store.
Farmers will only have to pay the subsidized amount of fertilizers.
