Odisha Free Laptop Scheme

Introduction

• Odisha’s meritorious students passing their 12th standard from Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE, Odisha) has much to cheer about as the State Government is providing them free laptops through Direct Benefit transfer from this year (2021).
• ‘An Investment in Knowledge pays the best interest’ seems to be governments approach there by empowering and motivating students for higher education.
• .A free laptop scheme to meritorious students is a great initiative taken by Odisha government in order to appreciate, recognize and support bright students.
• Technology in education has been greatly extended especially during Covid-19.
• Technology support learning could provide great results to these shining stars of Odisha state.

Objective

• Objective of the scheme is to enhance facilities for students who are aspiring for higher education in different fields.
• The scheme covers school students, vocational students and Upashastri showing the state’s willingness to enrich both scientific and cultural education.

Stream and category wise allocation of benefit

Eligibility Condition

• He/ She should be resident of Odisha.
• He/ She should be 12th pass/Vocational student/Upashastri in current year
• He/ She should be 12th pass/vocational student from Council Of Higher Secondary education Odisha (CHSE, Odisha)
• Upashastri from Shree Jagannath Sanskrit Vishwavidyalaya, Puri only are eligible
• He/ She should be a meritorious student, whose name appeared in list published by department.

Documents required to take benefits

• Aadhaar Card, legible scan copy
• Bank account on Student Name linked to Aadhaar number
• Mobile number linked with Aadhaar number
• E-mail ID
• Caste certificate
• Address of correspondence
• Bank Address
• Mark sheet of last exam passed
• Passport size photograph
• First page of bank passbook showing(IFSC code & bank account number),legible scan copy

Instruction to beneficiaries to avail Free Laptop via DBT

• Beneficiary student must have Aadhaar number linked to mobile number and bank account number on his name.
• Bank account e-KYC needed to be updated and ensure that bank account is able to receive Rs.30, 000/-.
• List of eligible students will be published in both department portal https://dhe.odisha.gov.in and scholarship portal https://scholarship.odisha.gov.in
• Selected meritorious students are required to register/update their details in the DBT module link given in scholarship website: https://scholarship.odisha.gov.in
• Detail will be auto validated with beneficiary’s mobile number. Then valid list will be published.
• In case of any difficulty while filling up the details students may email to @email or call on 0674-2954600  
• In case student want to change their mobile number in SAMS( Student Academic Management System ) database, student have to send self-attested copy of Aadhaar and filled Annexure –A form by email to @email
• Claim beyond last date would not be entertained.

How to apply for Odisha Free Laptop Scheme

• Open the state scholarship portal: http://scholarship.odisha.gov.in
• Click on Registration link on top for registration through Aadhaar/ Existing user can click on login button.
• Check the mobile linked with Aadhaar or email to get login and password.
• Click Login link at portal and enter Unique ID and password you received after registration.
• Select BYSY from drop down list of scholarships.
• Provide the necessary personal and academic details by clicking on next button.
• Completed form will appear on the page before final submission. Check details if all correct, proceed to submit.
• Congratulation message will be displayed after submission.

Features

• 15000 meritorious students will avail Rs.30, 000/- in lieu of Laptop.
• Amount will be transferred to the bank account of beneficiary.
• Stream wise (Arts, Science, and Commerce) selection of students shall be done in each district
• Vocational Course students are also eligible for the scheme.
• Upashastri from Shree Jagannath Sanskrit University only can avail scheme benefits.
• District/ Stream/ Category wise cut off marks list will be uploaded on http://dhe.odisha.gov .in
• Merit list of selected students will be uploaded on department portal https://dhe.odisha.gov.in and state scholarship portal http://scholarship.odisha.gov.in
• Qualifying candidate have to register themselves on http://scholarship.odisha.gov.in
• Student can check their name on the list on https://dhe.odisha.gov.in for their status.
• Any change in Aadhaar linked mobile number/Category can be done through Student Academic Management System (SAMS).Update will be done in one day.
• Students can apply after re-addition/change in marks in 12th mark sheet with the guidance of principal.
• Reservation for SC/ST has been followed as: 16.25% and 22.50% respectively. 

Grievance redressal

• Any grievance after publication of list regarding caste change, mark re-addition shall be placed before the concerned Principals (Principal of Nodal College).
• If genuine, then Principal may request to the Department to include the name of student in supplementary list.
