Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 2.0

Introduction

• The Scheme was first launched by our Hon'ble Prime Minister Of India Sh. Narendra Modi in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh on 1st of May 2016.
• "Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana" is a flagship scheme under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPNG).
• The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide clean cooking fuel to the rural and deprived households which were using traditional cooking fuels such as Coal, Cow-Dung Cakes, Firewood, Crop Residue etc.
• Usage of this type of traditional cooking fuels had very bad impacts on the health of our rural women as well as on the environment.
• So keeping all this in mind, Government of India under the ambit of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOPNG) launched "Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana" with a tag line of "Swachh Indhan, Behtar Jeevan".
• Initially, the "Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana" was launched to cater 5 crore BPL households for which the govt allocated Rs 8000 Cr.
• But later, the scheme was revised to 8 Cr households and for this Govt allocates Rs 48000 Cr.
• Seven more categories i.e. Schedule Caste (SC)/Schedule Tribe (ST), Beneficiary of Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY), Beneficiary of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Gramin), Most Backward Class (MBC), Forest Dwellers, Tea and Ex-Tea Garden Tribes, People Residing in River Island (Beneficiary will submit supporting document) are added.
• In the Union budget for Fiscal Year 2021-2022, government announces for an additional 1 Crore LPG connection under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
• From here the journey of Ujjwala 2.0 starts when our Hon'ble Prime Minister Of India Sh. Narendra Modi launched the second version of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) called Ujjwala 2.0 by handing over LPG connection at Mahoba Uttar Pradesh on 10th of August 2021.
• During the launched event Prime Minister also interact with the beneficiaries of the Ujjwala and also address the Nation.
• Under this, the govt aim to cover the remaining poor households with a target of 1 Cr connection.
• Under Ujjwala 2.0, the migrants households may also apply for a gas connection, which they can get by submitting a declaration form.
• As of 15 Feb 2024, the Govt has issued 102,228,333 gas connection under PMUY.
• Whereas, under Ujjwala 2.0 a total of 22,371,674 connections were released.
• Free of Cost Gas Connection and Subsidy of Rs. 300/- is provided to all eligible beneficiaries under Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana.
• Eligible Women Beneficiaries can apply online for new gas connection under Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana.

Benefits of Scheme

• Cash Assistance of Rs. 1,600/- for a connection of 14.2kg cylinder.
• Cash Assistance of Rs. 1,150/- for a 5 kg Cylinder.
• Subsidy of Rs. 300/- on Every PMUY Gas Cylinder Refill.
• This cash assistance per connection is used to issue Gas Connection whose details are;
  • Cylinder Security: Rs 1250 (for 14.2 KG) and Rs 800 (for 5 Kg) cylinder.
  • Pressure Regulator Security: Rs 150
  • LPG Hose: Rs 100
  • Domestic Gas Consumer Card: Rs 25
  • Installation Charges: Rs 75
• In Ujjwala 2.0 along with a deposit free LPG connection, Ujjwala 2.0 will provide first refill and hotplate free of cost to the beneficiaries.
• Migrants will not be required to submit ration card or address proof.
• A self- declaration for both "family declaration" and as a "proof of address" will sufficient.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the applicants must fulfill the following conditions:

• The minimum age of the women applicants is 18 years.
• Only Adult woman who are from any of the following categories may apply:
  • SC/ST Households
  • Most backward Classes
  • Pradhan Mantri Away Yojana (AAY)
  • Tribal People
  • Residents of Islands/River Island
  • Enlisted under Socio Economic Caste Census Households. (AHL TIN)
  • Tea and Ex-Tea Garden tribes
  • Other Poor Families (for this they have to submit a 14 point declaration)
• The above mentioned category should not be in a possession of any of the following items, otherwise their application shall be disqualify for the scheme.
  • 2/3/4 wheeler or fishing motorized boat.
  • Mechanised 3/4 wheeler agricultural equipment.
  • Over 50,000 credit limit of Kisan Credit Card.
  • Any member of the households is government employee.
  • Households with non-agriculture enterprises registered with government.
  • Any members of the households earn more than 10,000 in a month.
  • Paying Income or Professional tax.
  • Households with 3 or more room with pucca walls and roof.
  • Having a refrigerator.
  • Owns a landline phone.
  • Irrigation lands of more than 2.5 acres with one irrigation equipment.
  • Irrigated lands of 5 acre or more for two or more crop season.
  • 7.5 acre or more land with at least one irrigation equipment.

Online Application Procedure

You can submit the, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Application Online by following the steps given here:

• The online application form for Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana is available at PMUV Portal.
• You have the option to choose the gas agency viz Indane, BharatGas, or HP Gas from the list.
• You must register before submitting the application form, where following details are required:
  • Applicants Name
  • Mobile Number
  • Email ID (If any)
• Post registration, login with the details generated in the same portal.
• Fill the application details carefully, and upload the documents if required.
• Preview the details filled in the PMUY application before final submission.
• Concerned gas agency will verify the documents and details first.
• After successful authentication, Gas connection will be issued.

Offline Application Procedure

• Applicants fulfil the eligibility conditions may also submit their PMUY Application through offline form.
• You can collect the 'Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Application form' from any LPG Distributor agency.
• In this PMUY application form you have to fill each details carefully.
• Affix all the required documents to confirm the KYC of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
• Submit the dully filled application form and documents to the agency.
• Gas agency will verify your submitted application form.
• After successful verification the gas connection under the PMUY will be issued.
