Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme

Introduction

• Drastic change in climatic conditions forced the nation across the world to fulfill their energy needs from other nature friendly resource.
• Several Countries are also trying to reduce the dependency on Petrol and Diesel and also trying to find out other possible option to run vehicles.
• The best option to replace petrol and diesel in vehicles is electric mode i.e battery.
• But due to high manufacturing cost, electric vehicle manufacturing companies sets higher price to sell their electric vehicles in open market.
• Families belonging to Middle Class are not capable to purchase the electric vehicle on such a high cost due to their financial conditions.
• Keeping these things in mind, Uttar Pradesh Government started "Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme".
• It was launched in the year 2022.
• The main objective behind starting Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme is to encourage people to purchase electric vehicle by providing them subsidy on the cost of vehicle.
• This scheme is also known by some other major names in state such as "Uttar Pradesh Electric Vahan Subsidy Yojana" or "Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Financial Incentive Scheme" or "Uttar Pradesh Subsidy Scheme on the Purchase of Electric Vehicle".
• Government of Uttar Pradesh will now provide the subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicle.
• Subsidy under Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme will be provided on the purchase of 2 Wheeler, 4 Wheeler, E-Buses and E-Goods Carrier Electric Vehicles.
• Subsidy will be provided with different rate according to the category of the purchased electric vehicle.
• Uttar Pradesh Government sets the the following subsidy rates according to the vehicle category under this scheme :-

  Electric Vehicle	Rate of Subsidy
  2 Wheeler	15% of Factory Cost or Maximum of Rs. 5,000/-
  4 Wheeler	15% of Factory Cost or Maximum of Rs. 25,000/-
  E-Buses	15% of Factory Cost or Maximum of Rs. 20,00,000/-
  E-Goods Carrier	15% of Factory Cost or Maximum of Rs. 1,00,000/-

• Beneficiary can apply for subsidy under Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme of Uttar Pradesh Government after the purchase of any of the above mentioned electric vehicle.
• Individual Beneficiary can only apply for subsidy on the purchase of any 1 electric vehicle.
• Whereas, Aggregators and Fleet Operators can apply for subsidy on the purchase of maximum 10 2 Wheeler or 4 Wheeler and 5 E-Buses or E-Goods Carrier.
• Benefit of subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicle will only provided to those vehicle owners who purchased their electric vehicle on or after 14th of October 2022.
• Apart from subsidy on the cost of vehicle, relaxation on registration cost and road tax will also provided to electric vehicle owners under this scheme for a period of 3 years.
• If electric vehicle is manufactured in Uttar Pradesh then the relaxation on registration cost and road tax will be applicable in 4th year and 5th year also.
• Subsidy of only 50% will be provided to beneficiary if he/ she purchased the electric vehicle without battery.
• Beneficiary can apply for subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicle under Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme through Online Application Form which is available on EV Subsidy Portal of Uttar Pradesh Government.

Benefits of Scheme

• Government of Uttar Pradesh will provide the following benefits to people who purchased electric vehicle under its Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme :-
  • Subsidy will be provided on the purchase of Electric Vehicle like 2 or 4 Wheeler, E-Buses and E-Goods Carrier.
  • Relaxation on the cost of Registration and Road Tax for 3 Years.
  • If Electric Vehicle is manufactured in Uttar Pradesh then the Registration and Road Tax relaxation will continue for 4th and 5th year also.
  • Subsidy of 15% on Factory Cost OR Maximum of Rs. 5,000/- on 2 Wheeler Purchase.
  • Subsidy of 15% on Factory Cost OR Maximum of Rs. 1,00,000/- on 4 Wheeler Purchase.
  • Subsidy of 15% on Factory Cost OR Maximum of Rs. 20,00,000/- on E-Bus Purchase.
  • Subsidy of 10% on Factory Cost OR Maximum of Rs. 1,00,000/- on E-Goods Carrier Purchase.

Eligibility Criteria

• Subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicle under Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme of Uttar Pradesh Government will be provided to only those beneficiaries who fulfill the below mentioned eligibility conditions :-

  Beneficiary should be a Resident of Uttar Pradesh. Beneficiary should have Purchased a Electric Vehicle on or after 14-10-2022. Subsidy will only provided on the purchase of following electric vehicles :- 2 Wheeler. 4 Wheeler. Non Government E-Buses. (School Bus, Ambulance etc.) E-Goods Carrier. Individual Beneficiary can avail the benefit of subsidy on the purchase of 1 electric vehicle only. Aggregators/ Fleet Operators can avail the benefit of subsidy on the purchase of maximum 10 2 Wheeler or 4 Wheeler and Maximum 5 Buses or E Goods Carrier. Subsidy of 50% will be provided if electric vehicle is purchased without battery.

Documents Required

• Following documents are needed at the time of applying for subsidy on the purchase of electric vehicle under Uttar Pradesh Government's Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme :-
  • Aadhar Card.
  • PAN Card/ GST Number. (If Applicable)
  • Cancelled Cheque or Passbook.
  • RC of Vehicle.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Scanned Photo and Signature.

How to Apply

• Those beneficiaries who purchased an electric vehicle on or after 14th of October 2022 can apply for subsidy under Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme through Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme is available on EV Subsidy Portal.
• Beneficiary has to do a Registration first on the Portal.
• Following details will have to be filled in the Registration Form of Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme :-
  • Electric Vehicle Number.
  • Last 5 Digit of Chasis Number.
  • Mobile Number.
• EV Subsidy Portal will verify the Mobile Number of Beneficiary through OTP verification.
• Beneficiary will then received the password on his/ her mobile number for Login.
• Login on EV Subsidy Portal with the help of Vehicle Number and Password or through Mobile Number.
• Fill the Online Application Form of Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme after Login.
• Online Application Form will be filled in the following 4 steps :-
  • Personal Details.
  • Electric Vehicle Details.
  • Bank Account Details.
  • Documents Upload.
• Photo and Signature of beneficiary should be uploaded same which he gave to dealer at the time of vehicle registration.
• A Cancelled Cheque or a Copy of Passbook will also mandatory to upload.
• Click on Submit Button to Submit the Online Application Form of Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme.
• EV Subsidy Portal will then generate the Registration Number.
• Beneficiary can also Check the Application Status of Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme by entering the Vehicle Number and Last 5 Digit of Chasis Number.
• Transport Department of Government of Uttar Pradesh will verify the received Application Forms.
• List of Selected Beneficiary will be made then.
• Subsidy provided on the purchase of electric vehicle under Uttar Pradesh Electric Vehicle Subsidy Scheme will then transferred in the given bank account of beneficiary.
