Introduction

  • Government of West Bengal launched a housing scheme for tea garden workers named Chaa Sundari Scheme on 17-09-2020.
  • The objective behind starting Cha Sundari Scheme was to provide free of cost housing units to all homeless and poor Tea Garden Workers.
  • West Bengal Government also provided land rights to some of the tea garden workers.
  • It is to be estimated that till date 2,500 Acre of land and homestead patta of up to 5 decimals is allocated for house construction to landless and poor Tea Garden Workers of West Bengal.
  • West Bengal Government has granted land to build houses to more than 23,000 tea garden workers.
  • But due to the poor financial condition of tea garden workers they are not able to construct house on the allocated land.
  • Now, West Bengal Government announced a new scheme for tea garden workers in which financial assistance will be provided for construction of house.
  • Finance Minister of West Bengal while presenting the budget of 2024-2025 announced to start "Cha Sundari Extension Scheme" in the State.
  • It is basically a extended version of earlier "Cha Sundari Scheme" of West Bengal Government.
  • It is also known by some other names such as "West Bengal Chaa Sundari Extension Scheme" or "West Bengal Cha Sundari Extension Prakalpa".
  • West Bengal Cha Sundari Extension Scheme will going to be implement in the state from the year 2024.
  • The main objective behind launching this scheme is to encourage tea garden workers to build their houses by providing them financial assistance.
  • Financial Assistane will be provided to all eligible tea garden workers for the construction of house under Cha Sundari Extension Scheme of West Bengal Government.
  • Rs. 1,20,000/- will be provided for the construction of house under West Bengal Cha Sundari Extension Scheme.
  • Financial Assistance under Cha Sundari Extension Scheme will only provided to those tea garden workers who has a government allocated land for house construction.
  • No Unregistered Tea Garden Worker are eligible to avail the benefit of this scheme.
  • Beneficiaries of Cha Sundari Scheme can not apply again for Cha Sundari Extension Scheme.
  • Eligible Tea Garden Workers who has a Government allocated land parcel/ patta can apply for financial assistance for construction of house under Cha Sundari Extension Scheme through Application Form.
  • Cha Sundari Extension Scheme Application Form is available in the District Office of Housing Department.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Financial Assistance for House Construction under West Bengal Cha Sundari Extension Scheme will be provided to those beneficiaries who fulfil the below mentioned eligibility conditions :-
    • Beneficiary should be a Resident of West Bengal.
    • Beneficiary should be a Permanent Tea Garden Worker.
    • Tea Garden Worker should have a Government allocated Land/ Patta.

Documents Required

  • Documents that are required to be attached with the application form at the time of applying for financial assistance for the construction of house under Cha Sundari Extension Scheme are as follows :-
    • Residence Proof of West Bengal.
    • Registration Number of Tea Garden Worker.
    • Aadhar Card.
    • Mobile Number.
    • Land Allocation/ Patta Documents.
    • Bank Account Details.

How to Apply

  • Eligible Tea Garden Workers can apply for financial assistance for the construction of house under Cha Sundari Extension Scheme of West Bengal Government through Application Form.
  • Application Form of Cha Sundari Extension Scheme is available free of cost at the the District Office of Housing Department.
  • Tea Garden Worker has to visit the their District Housing Department Office and have to Collect the Cha Sundari Extension Scheme Application Form.
  • Fill the Application Form correctly and attach all the required documents with it.
  • Submit the Application Form of West Bengal Cha Sundari Extension Scheme along with all the documents in the same district office of Housing Department.
  • Officials of Housing Department will thoroughly verify the received application form.
  • List of Beneficiaries selected for financial assistance for house construction under Cha Sundari Extension Scheme will be published in the housing department office.
  • Beneficiaries will be informed about their selection for financial assistance through SMS on their registered mobile number.
  • Financial Assistance for House Construction under West Bengal Cha Sundari Extension Scheme will then transferred in the given bank account of Tea Garden Worker.
  • Beneficiary Tea Garden Worker can also check the Application Status of Cha Sundari Extension Scheme by visiting the Housing Department District Office.
