West Bengal Sishu Saathi Scheme

Introduction

• In some family Children got effected by the heart or nerve diseases.
• Those children are not able to get a proper treatment for their disease because of costly treatment and their parents are not capable to afford the treatment expense.
• To give benefit to such families, West Bengal Government started Sishu Saathi Scheme on 21st of August 2013.
• The main objective of the scheme is to provide free of cost treatment to seriously ill children without any cost.
• West Bengal Sishu Saathi Scheme comes under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram.
• This Scheme is implemented by Health and Family Welfare Department of West Bengal Government.
• Children of age group of 0 to 18 years who are suffering from any of the below mentioned serious diseases are eligible to get free of cost treatment under Sishu Saathi Scheme :-
  • Heart Diseases.
  • Nerve Disease.
  • Any Critical Eye Diseases.
• Following empanelled hospitals provides free of cost surgery service under West Bengal Sishu Saathi Scheme :-

  Government Hospitals	Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital. B.C. Roy Memorial Hospital for Children. R.G. Kar Medical College.

• Initially under West Bengal Sishu Saathi Scheme every year 3,000 Children get Cardiac treatment free of cost.
• Eligible Children can avail the benefit of West Bengal Sishu Saathi Scheme by following means :-
  • By visiting any private or government hospital for screening test.
  • By visiting Health test camps in Government school that are conducted by Government.

Benefits of Scheme

• The Following Benefits will be provided under West Bengal Sishu Saathi Scheme :-
  • Free of Cost Treatment will be provided to Seriously Ill Children.
  • West Bengal Government will pay the treatment cost charged by Hospitals for the treatment.
  • Seriously Ill Children can avail Free of Cost Treatment for the below mentioned diseases at any multi/ super speciality hospitals :-

    Cardiac Surgery. Neurosurgery. Congenital Cataract and Other Critical Eye Surgery.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant should be a permanent residents of West Bengal.
• The Age of Children should be between 0 to 18 Years.

Document Required

• Following documents are required at the time of filling application form under West Bengal Sishu Saathi Scheme :-
  • Residences Proof / Domicile Certificate .
  • Aadhar Card.
  • Age Proof.
  • Mobile Number.
  • Medical Documents/ Reports.

How to Apply

• Government conducts Health test in the government school to detect the sick children from heart, nerve or any eye diseases Or Children can go for screening test in any Private or Government hospital.
• After Health Test/ Screening Test, Eligible Children get listed by the Concerned Officers for free of cost treatment under West Bengal Sishu Saathi Scheme.
• Children who are listed are suggest to go to the following hospital that comes under West Bengal Sishu Saathi Scheme :-
  • BM Birla Heart Research Centre.
  • RN Tagore Institute of Cardiac Sciences in Kolkata.
  • Mission Hospital in Durgapur.
  • IPGMER, Kolkata.
  • Seth Sukhlal Karnani Memorial Hospital.
  • B.C. Roy Memorial Hospital for Children.
  • R.G. Kar Medical College.
• Children has to go for treatment with required medical document.
• Children will get the treatment free of cost, no medical fees will be charged from them.
• Government of West Bengal will pay all the expenses of treatment that is charged by Hospital.
