West Bengal Pension Scheme

Introduction

• West Bengal Pension Scheme was launched in 2010 by Government of West Bengal.
• The scheme was launched with the objective of providing social security to the disadvantaged section of the society.
• There are 9 Sub Schemes under West Bengal Pension Scheme according to the category of beneficiaries :-
  • West Bengal Old Age Pension Scheme.
  • West Bengal Widow Pension Scheme.
  • West Bengal Manabik Pension Scheme.
  • West Bengal Taposili Bandhu Scheme.
  • West Bengal Jai Johar Scheme.
  • West Bengal Farmer Old Age Pension Scheme.
  • West Bengal Fishermen Old Age Pension Scheme.
  • West Bengal Artisan and Weaver Pension Scheme.
  • West Bengal Lok Prasar Prakalpa Scheme.
• Under West Bengal Pension Scheme, financial assistance as a monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month will be provided to the beneficiaries of all sub schemes.
• Applicant must be a permanent resident of West Bengal to avail the benefit of the scheme.
• Deceased Husband's Death Certificate and Identity Proof is mandatorily needed for Widow Pension.
• Disability Certificate or Certificate from Medical Practitioner is necessary at the time of applying for Disability Pension.
• Only Registered Fishermen, Folk Artists and Artisan and Weaver are eligible for monthly pension.
• Eligible Beneficiary can apply for monthly pension according to their category through Application Form.
• West Bengal Pension Scheme Application Form is available free of cost at Kolkata Municipal Corporation Office or Gram Panchayat Office.

Benefits of Scheme

• The following financial assistance as a Monthly Pension will be provided to the eligible beneficiaries according to their category under West Bengal Pension Scheme :-

  Farmer Old Age Pension Scheme	Rs. 1,000/- per Month
  Fishermen Old Age Pension Scheme	Rs. 1,000/- per Month
  Artisan and Weaver Old Age Pension Scheme	Rs. 1,000/- per Month
  Lok Prasar Prakalpa Scheme	Rs. 1,000/- per Month

Eligibility Criteria

• Beneficiary must need to fulfill the below mentioned eligibility criteria in order to avail the benefit of the West Bengal Pension Scheme :-

  Pension Scheme	Eligibility
  Old Age Pension Scheme	Applicant must be resident of West Bengal for more than 10 years. Monthly Income of the Applicant should not exceed Rs. 1,000/-. Applicant must be 60 years of age or above. For Physically and Mentally Handicapped Person, the Age Limit shall be 55 years or Above.
  Widow Pension Scheme	Applicant must be resident of West Bengal for more than 10 years. Monthly Income of the Applicant should not exceed Rs. 1,000/-. Widow should be Unmarried.
  Manabik Pension Scheme	Applicant must be resident of West Bengal for more than 10 years. Monthly Income of the Applicant should not more than Rs. 1,000/-. Applicant is declared unfit for physical work by medical officer.
  Taposili Bandhu Scheme	Applicant must be resident of West Bengal for more than 10 years. Applicant should be belong to Schedule Caste Category. Age of Applicant should be 60 Years or Above.
  Jai Johar Scheme	Applicant must be resident of West Bengal for more than 10 years. Applicant should be belong to Schedule Tribe Category. Age of Applicant should be 60 Years or Above.
  Farmer Old Age Pension Scheme	Applicant must be resident of West Bengal for more than 10 years. Applicant should be a Farmer. Farmer should have less than 2 Acre of Land. Age of Farmer should be :- 60 Years or Above for General Category. 55 Years or Above for Physically Challenged.
  Fishermen Old Age Pension Scheme	Applicant must be resident of West Bengal for more than 10 years. Applicant should be Fishermen. The Age of Fishermen should be 60 Years or Above.
  Artisan and Weaver Old Age Pension Scheme	Applicant must be resident of West Bengal for more than 10 years. Applicant should be a Registered Artisan or Weaver. The Age of Artisan or Weaver should be 60 Years or Above.
  Lok Prasar Prakalpa Scheme	Applicant must be resident of West Bengal for more than 10 years. Applicant should be a Registered Folk Artists. The Age of Folk Artist should be :- Between 18 Years to 60 Years for Monthly Stipend. 60 Years or Above for Monthly Pension.

  • Voter ID Card.

• Ration Card.
• Aadhaar Card.
• Income Certificate.
• Bank Account Details.
• Death Certificate of Deceased Husband. (For Widow Beneficiary)
• Identity Proof of Deceased Husband. (For Widow Beneficiary)
• No Marriage Certificate. (For Widow Beneficiary)
• Disability Certificate. (For Disable Beneficiary)
• Caste Certificate. (For SC and ST)
• Land Documents. (For Farmer)
• Registration Details. (For Fishermen, Folk Artists and Artisan and Weavers)

How to Apply

• Eligible Beneficiaries according to their category can apply for monthly pension through Application Forms.
• Application Form of all the pension schemes will be collected free of cost from the below mentioned offices -
  • Office of the Block Development Officer or the Executive Officer of the concerned Panchayat Samity.
  • Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer or Office of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.
  • Office of the Controller of Vagrancy, West Bengal.
• Application Form will be available at the above mentioned offices at free of cost.
• Fill up the application form correctly and attach all the required documents with it.
• After submission of the form, details of the applicant will be verified.
• After successful verification, monthly pension will be transferred in the bank account of beneficiary.

Features of Scheme

• To continue to avail the benefit of the West Bengal Pension Scheme, beneficiary must submit the following documents at pension receiving bank :-
  • Life Certificate need to be submitted annually.
  • For Widow Non-Marriage Certificate need to be submitted.
• Under the following condition benefits of West Bengal Pension Scheme will be stopped :-
  • In case of death of beneficiary.
  • In case of remarriage of widow.
