Ayushman Bharat Yojana

The government of India has committed to ensure that its population has universal access to good quality health care services without facing financial hardship. In Ayushman Bharat scheme, also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, cashless and paperless treatment will be provided at public and private selected hospitals. The primary objective of this scheme is to provide the benefit cover of 5 lac rupees per family per year to the poor people of the country. It also aims at reducing financial burden on poor and vulnerable groups arising out of catastrophic hospital episodes.

Benefits of the scheme

1. This scheme includes all expenses incurred for the following components of treatment: -
2. Medical examination, treatment and consultation
3. 3days of pre-hospitalization:consultation involving diagnostic tests and medicines before admission in the hospital.
4. 15 days of post hospitalization with included discharge medicines
5. During hospitalization
   • Medicines and medical consumables are provided.
   • Intensive and non intensive care service is provided.
   • Diagnostic and laboratory investigations.
   • Procedure cost including medical implant services (where necessary).
   • Availing accommodation service and food services to the patient.
   • Complications arising during treatment.

Who is eligible to avail its benefits?

1. It is an entitled based scheme with the entitilement decided on the basis of deprivatin criteria in the SECC(socio-economic caste census)
2. The scheme includes:
   • SC/ST tribe households.
   • Families having only one room with katcha roof and katcha walls.
   • family having no adult member between 16 and 59 years of age.
   • disabled member and no able bodied member
   • family having female as head without any male adult between 16 and 59.
