West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme

Introduction

• Disability Pension Scheme of West Bengal is the welfare scheme of West Bengal Government for the Disabled People.
• It was launched in the year 2010.
• The main objective behind starting Disability Pension Scheme is to provide financial support to Disabled People of West Bengal.
• Department of Women & Child and Social Welfare of Government of West Bengal is the nodal department of this scheme.
• West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme is also called "West Bengal Financial Assistance Scheme for Disabled" or "West Bengal Monthly Pension Scheme for Disabled".
• West Bengal Government will provide monthly pension of Rs. 1,000/- to all Eligible Disabled Persons of West Bengal.
• Permanent Resident of West Bengal and those disabled beneficiaries who resides in West Bengal for not less than 10 years are eligible for monthly pension.
• The monthly income of Disable Person should not be more than Rs. 1,000/- per month.
• Disability Certificate is mandatorily needed at the time of applying for pension.
• In case of non availability of Disability Certificate, a certificate from registered medical practitioner is need to prove the disability.
• Government of West Bengal merged the Disability Pension Scheme with Manabik Pension Scheme which is a new pension scheme for disabled people.
• Eligible Disable Beneficiary can apply for monthly Disability Pension by filling the Offline Application Form of West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme.

Benefits of Scheme

• The following financial assistance as monthly pension will be given to eligible Disabled Beneficiaries under West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme :-
  • Pension of Rs. 1,000/- per Month to Disabled Beneficiaries.

Eligibility Criteria

• Disable Beneficiary should be Permanent Residents of West Bengal OR,
• Beneficiary should be a Resident of West Bengal for 10 Years.
• Beneficiary should be Disable or Handicapped.
• Monthly Income of Disabled Person should not be more than Rs. 1,000/- per month.

Documents Required

• Any One Residence/ Identity Proof of West Bengal :-
  • PAN Card.
  • Voter ID Card.
  • Passport.
• Income Certificate.
• Aadhar Card.
• Ration Card.
• Bank Accounts Details.
• Certificate of Disability.
• Certificate from Medical Practitioner. (In Case of there is no Disability Certificate)

How to Apply

• Eligible Disabled Beneficiaries can apply for monthly pension by filling West Bengal Disability Pension Scheme Application Form.
• Disability Pension Application Form will be collected from the below mentioned offices free of cost :-
  • Controller of Vagrancy Office. (In Kolkata Municipal Corporation Area)
  • Block Development Officer/ Panchayat Samiti Office in Rural Area.
  • Sub Divisional Officer Office in Urban Area.
• Fill the Application Form and attach all the required documents with application form.
• Submit the Pension Application Form with all the documents in the same office from where it was collected.
• Application Form and Documents will be scrutinised by the concerned officials.
• After initial verification, Application Form will be forwarded to District Magistrate for final approval.
• Beneficiary can check their Application Status Here with the help of Application ID.
• Monthly Pension of Rs. 1,000/- per month will be transferred in the bank account of beneficiary as soon as it approved by the District Magistrate.
