Introduction
- Indira Gandhi Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child is a 100% centrally funded scheme.
- It is implemented and monitored by University Grants Commission.
- This scheme is focuses on the Post graduate education of the single girl child.
- Its main objective is to provide financial assistance to that girls who are single girl child in a family.
- There are limited 3,000 seats available for the scholarship in every year.
- The Scholarship amount given to student is Rs. 36,200/- per year per student for a period of 2 years.
- Scholarship will be available only to girl students studying in first year of post graduate programme.
- Canara Bank is the nodal disbursement bank of this scheme.
- This is an incentive scheme, so eligible student can also take advantage of any other scholarship scheme along with this scheme.
Eligibility Conditions
- Maximum age limit is 30 years.
- Girl Student should not have any brother or sister.
- Girl student who are twins or fraternal daughter are also eligible under this scheme.
- If one son and one daughter is in the family, then the girl student are not eligible for scholarship.
- The scheme is for only those single girl child who are studying in regular, full time first year Master Degree Course.
- The designated university or a post graduate college should be duly recognized from University Grants Commission.
- The scholarship is only available to a student studying in first year of Post Graduation course.
- Girl student studying Post Graduate course in Distance education mode is not eligible under the scheme.
Amount of Scholarship
- This is an incentive scheme of the University Grants Commission.
- The amount of scholarship is Rs. 36,200/- per year.
- The duration of the scholarship is for 2 years.
- No other additional grant i.e. hostel charges or medical charges etc. will be provided to the student.
Document required
- List of document to be uploaded at the time of applying :-
- Copy of 10th Certificate & Marksheet.
- Copy of 12th Certificate & Marksheet.
- Copy of Graduation Marksheet and Certificate.
- Joining Report (Annexure-I).
- Affidavit (Annexure-II).
- For renewal, annual progress report and continuation certificate will be required.
- Aadhar Card.
How to Apply
- The only mode to apply for this scheme is through National Scholarship Portal.
- Candidate have to register themselves first by clicking on New Registration.
- Candidate have to fill required details :-
- State of Domicile.
- Scholarship category whether pre-matric or post matric.
- Select scholarship type as Incentive Scheme.
- Name.
- Scheme Type.
- Date of Birth.
- Gender.
- Mobile Number.
- Email Id.
- Bank IFSC Code.
- Bank Account Number.
- Aadhar Number.
- After Filling all the necessary details, click on Register.
- With log in credential given to you by portal, Log in to submit your application.
- Select Post Graduate Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child, fill all the required details and click on submit the application.
- The application will be scrutinized and the selected candidate list will be available on the official site of University Grant Commission.
- This scheme is subject to renewal, so candidate have to renew their application in a 2nd year.
Features of the Scheme
- This scheme is available only once in a year.
- Aadhar number is mandatory for applying for this scheme.
- No application will be accepted without valid Aadhar Card.
- If candidate drop out the course in between, he/she will not eligible for further scholarship.
- Scholarship available only for Single Girl Child Student who are studying in below mentioned institutions :-
- Institutions/Universities/Colleges included under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act.
- Deemed to be Universities included under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
- Those Deemed Universities which do not receive funds from the Central/State Government are not eligible institutions under the scheme.
- Institutions/Colleges/Universities funded by State/Central Government.
- Institutes of National Importance.
- Statutory council recognized Institutions, within state as well as outside.
- There are 3,000 are available for the students in this scholarship.
- Candidate can avail the benefit of the scheme only in the first year of their course.
- Post Graduation course is the only eligible course under this scheme.
- Taking admission in regular, full time post graduation course is mandatory.
- No scholarship is provided if student studying through Distance education mode.
- The amount of scholarship directly paid to the candidate in their bank accounts.
- If student fail to promote to the next class, their scholarship will be forfeited.
- It is mandatory to upload promotion certificate of the course at the time of renewal of scholarship application.
Students who are not eligible
- The following will not be eligible under this scheme :-
- Student pursuing programme/courses through Open Universities.
- Students studying through distance mode of education.
- If Girl Student have any brother and sister.
- Student studying in 2nd year of post graduation course.
