Overview Of The Scheme
Name of the Scheme Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme
Launched in 2014-2015.
Number of Scholarship 10,000 scholarship seats per year.
Amount of Scholarship
  • Rs. 5,400/- per month for general degree course like
    BA, BSc, BCom,BBA etc.
  • Rs. 7,800/- per month for Technical, Medical,
    Professional/Paramedical Courses.
Period of Scholarship
  • Scholarship will be valid for the entire duration of the
    integrated course.
  • For dual degree course, the scholarship will be valid only
    for the tenure of the first degree.
Eligibility Candidates from North-Eastern states are eligible.
Objective
  • Promoting higher education in North Eastern States.
  • To focus more on vocational/professional education in the
    North Eastern Region.
  • Supporting students belongs to economically weaker section
    to study further.

Mode of Applying Only Online Mode Available through National Scholarship Portal.

Introduction

  • Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme is a 100% centrally funded scheme.
  • It is implemented by University Grants Commission.
  • This scheme is focuses on the students belongs to North-Eastern States also called Seven Sister States of India.
  • Its main objective is to provide financial assistance to Students from North Eastern State so that they can pursue their higher education.
  • There a limited 10,000 seats are available for the scholarship in every year.
  • The Scholarship amount given to student is :-
    • Rs. 5,400/- per month for students who are pursuing general courses like :- BA, BSc, Bcom, BBA etc.
    • Rs. 7,800/- per month for students who are pursuing Technical/Medical/Professional/Paramedical Courses.
  • Scholarship will be available only to students studying in first year of under graduate programme.

Eligibility Conditions

  • Candidate must have passed 12th or equivalent exam from school within North Easten Region.
  • The student must be a resident of any of the North Eastern State :-
    • Arunachal Pradesh
    • Assam
    • Manipur
    • Mizoram
    • Nagaland
    • Sikkim
    • Tripura
  • The student must have the domicile of the resident of their State.
  • Students studying in first year Under-graduate course are eligible to apply.
  • The income of the parents should not exceed Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum from all sources.
  • Transgenders are also eligible to apply under this scheme.
  • Reservation will be followed as per the norms of Government of India.

Document required

  • List of document to be uploaded at the time of applying :-
    • Copy of 10th Certificate & Marksheet.
    • Copy of 12th Certificate & marksheet.
    • Domicile Certificate (Mandatory).
    • Proof of annual income.
    • For renewal, annual progress report and continuation certificate will be required.
    • Aadhar Card.

How to Apply

  • The only mode to apply for this scheme is through National Scholarship Portal.
  • Candidate have to register themselves first by clicking on New Registration.
  • Candidate have to fill required details :-
    • State of Domicile.
    • Scholarship category whether pre-matric or post matric.
    • Name.
    • Scheme Type.
    • Date of Birth.
    • Gender.
    • Mobile Number.
    • Email Id.
    • Bank IFSC Code.
    • Bank Account Number.
    • Aadhar Number.
  • After Filling all the necessary details, click on Register.
  • With log in credential given to you by portal, Log in to submit your application.
  • Select Ishan Uday Special Scholarship Scheme, fill all the required details and click on submit the application.
  • The application will be scrutinized and the selected candidate list will be available on the Ishan Uday Portal of UGC
  • This scheme is subject to renewal, so candidate have to renew their applications every year.

Features of the Scheme

  • This scheme is available only once in a year.
  • Aadhar number is mandatory for applying for this scheme.
  • No application will be accepted without valid Aadhar Card.
  • If candidate drop out the course in between,he/she will not eligible for further scholarship.
  • Scholarship available only for North Eastern State students who are studying in below mentioned institutions :-
    • Institutions/Universities/Colleges included under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act.
    • Deemed to be Universities included under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
    • Institutions/Colleges/Universities funded by State/Central Government.
    • Institutes of National Importance.
    • Statutory council recognized Institutions, within state as well as outside.
    • Admission should have been made in College/Institutions/University with AISHE Code.
  • There are 10,000 are available for the students in this scholarship.
  • There is a 3 percent reservation for differently/specially challenge students.
  • Candidate can avail the benefit of the scheme only in the first year of their course.
  • List of short listed candidates will be available on the Ishan Uday (UGC) web portal.
  • The amount of scholarship directly paid to the candidate in their bank accounts.
  • If student fail to promote to the next class, their scholarship will be forfeited.
  • It is mandatory to upload promotion certificate of the course at the time of renewal of scholarship application.

Students who are not eligible

  1. The following will not be eligible under this scheme :-
    • Students pursuing programme/courses through Open Universities
    • Students already in receipt of scholarship for pursuing undergraduate programme under any other scheme(s).
    • Students seeking admission from management quota.
    • Students pursuing courses, like diploma courses, not leading to award of a degree.
    • Students whose parental income is more than Rs. 4.5 lakh per annum.

Till now I can't receive my amount ...though it's already approved my ministry ....renewal 2021-22...i received my first two yrs amount but last time not send it to me ...but it showed on status that approved by the ministry...but till now amount is not credited
