Introduction

• Most of the Girls in rural areas of Punjab are not able to complete their education because schools are far away from their home.
• Addressing this major issue Government of Punjab introduced Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme in 2011 to promote girls in completing their education.
• Department of Women & Child Development, Punjab is nodal department of the scheme.
• Under this Scheme Government will be providing Free Bicycles to the Girls studying in classes IX to XII.
• Girls willing to avail the benefit of the scheme must be enrolled into Government schools of Punjab.
• Recommendation by the head of the School is must to avail the benefit of the Scheme.
• The Scheme is a great initiative in reducing school dropout rate among girl students in the state of Punjab.

Eligibility

• Girl should be permanent Resident of state of Punjab.
• Girl should be studying in classes IX to XII.
• Girl should be enrolled in Government school of Punjab.
• Girl should belong to a BPL Family.

• Free Bicycles to Eligible Girls under Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme.
• Easy travel convenience.

Documents Required

• Aadhaar Card.
• BPL Card.
• State Domicile.
• Previous class Result / Repot Card.
• Recommendation by the head of the school.

How to Apply

• To apply for Mai Bhago Vidya Scheme applicant should contact to their nearest Office of District Programme Officer.
• Applicant can also contact the principal of their concerned school regarding the Scheme.
• Application form will be provided by the concerned person.
• Fill up the application form and submit all the required Documents.
• Verification of the details of the applicant will be done by the concerned authority.
• After successful verification applicant can avail the benefit of the scheme.
