Introduction

  • In the budget speech of 2023-24, Indian Government announced the 'Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan' (PM-JANMAN).
  • Under this, they emphasize the development of tribal community by aiming a goal to provide benefit to every single member.
  • As per the 2011 census, India has 10.45 Cr of ST population, out of which 75 communities are located in 18 States and UTs of Andaman and Nicobar.
  • Such communities, have been categorised as 'Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups' (PVTGs).
  • Since ages, these communities are deprive of basic amenities like road, electricity, medical and others.
  • Due to this, these communities face vulnerability in the verticals of Social, Economic and Education Fields.
  • To counter this and reach out to the single member of these Tribal Community, the govt announced the PM-JANMAN Scheme.
  • The scheme has been launched on the occasion of Jan Jatiya Gaurav Diwas on November 15, 2023.
  • For this, the govt announced a total outlay of Rs 24,104 Cr and on Jan 15, 2024 the government released 1st instalment of Rs 540 Cr for 1 lakh PMAY (G).
  • Under this, the govt aim to cater 11 major activity with the intervention of 9 ministries.
  • Primarily, the main scope of the scheme is to provide;
    • Safe Housing.
    • Clean Drinking Water and Sanitation.
    • Vocational Education and Skills.
    • Healthcare.
    • Road and Travel Connectivity.
    • Provide sustainable livelihood opportunities.
  • To monitor these development under PM JANMAN, the govt. launched the PM Gatishakti Platform.

  • Under Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, the Govt aim is to improve 11 critical socio economic conditions of Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PVTG), which are given as;

    • Identity Proof.

    • Ration Card.
    • Domicile/Caste Certificate.
    • Mobile Number.

How to Apply

  • In the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan, the primarily focus is to build an infrastructure for these tribal communities.
  • So beneficiary are not supposed to fill any application form.
  • Govt. first identify the areas and implement the scheme in phase wise manner.
  • However, there are some scheme and programs where applicants need to register and apply for the scheme.
  • For this, the District Collector Chairman ensure the registration and submission of application form.
  • Registration shall be done either online or offline as needed.
  • For more details, the applicants may reach out to the camps set up in the tribal habitations.
