Introduction

  • In India, many talented children had to stop their education because of their family financial condition.
  • To reduce the number of dropout students, the Uttar Pradesh government initiated the "Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Scheme."
  • The main objective behind launching this scheme is to provide financial assistance to those students whose parents cannot afford their education.
  • Under the scheme, the government will pay the non-refundable fees for schools and colleges.
  • Under the scheme, students can apply for pre-matric and post-matric scholarships.
  • For pre-matric scholarship, those students who are studying in 9th or 10th class are eligible to apply.
  • For post matric, those students who are studying in 11th-12th class or pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or diploma courses are eligible to apply for the scheme.
  • Beneficiaries can apply online for the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Scheme through the official online portal.
  • The scholarship amount will be paid as a lump sum or monthly.
  • Scholarship amount directly given to the students in their bank account.
  • The annual income of the student's parents should not exceed the limit set by the state government.

Benefits of the Scheme

  • The following benefits will be provided to the eligible beneficiary under the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Scheme:-
    Category Scholarship Type Benefits
    General Pre Matric Scholarship
    • Anually Rs. 3,000 will be provided.
    Post Matric Scholarship
    • Students of M.Phil, PhD, B.Tech, and MBBS will receive either Rs. 50,000 or the fee paid by them, whichever is less.
    • Students of M.A, M.COM, Pharmacy and Nursing courses will receive either Rs. 30,000 or the fee paid by them, whichever is less.
    • Under graduate students of B.A, B.COM or B.Sc course will receive either Rs. 20,000 or the fee paid by them, whichever is less.
    • For class 11, 12, ITI, and all non-graduate courses, students will receive either Rs 10,000 or the minimum fee paid by them, whichever is lower.
    Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe Pre Matric Scholarship
    • Under the component -1, whose annual family income is less than Rs. 2.5 lakh are eligible for the following scholarship:-
      • Rs. 3,500 (Day Scholar)
      • Rs. 7,000 (Residential students)
    • Under the component-2, all income groups will be eligible for the following scholarship:-
      • Rs. 3,500 (Day Scholar)
      • Rs. 8,000 (Residential students)
    Post Matric Scholarship
    • Students will get fixed amount of scholarship which is set by the central or state government.
    • Additionally, disabled students will receive 10% extra allowance.
    Backward Class Pre Matric Scholarship
    • Student will receive Rs. 150 per month (for a maximum of 10 months).
    • Additionally, they will be given an annual grant of Rs. 750 in one lump sum.
    Post Matric Scholarship
    • Students of all technical courses at the graduate and postgraduate levels will receive either Rs. 50,000 or the fee paid by them, whichever is less.
    • For postgraduate non-technical programs, students will receive either Rs. 30,000 or the fee paid by them, whichever is lower.
    • Students enrolled in technical vocational courses at the graduate level will receive either the non-refundable fee or Rs. 20,000 for diploma courses and Rs. 10,000 for one-year certificate courses, whichever is lower.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Only those who fulfill below mention conditions are eligible for apply Pre Matric Scholarship under the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Scheme:-
    Category Criteria
    General
    • Resident of Uttar Pradesh.
    • Those students who are studying in a school recognized by the Central and State Government.
    • Annual family income of applicant should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh.
    • All children of parent and guardian are eligible to apply for the scheme.
    • If student availed any other scholarship then he/she cannot apply for this scheme.
    • If a student's parents are not alive and have been adopted for providing education to them, they can still apply for the scheme.
      In this case, the guardian's income won't affect eligibility.
    • On July 1st, student should be between 12 and 20 years old.
    Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe
    • Students belonging to Scheduled Castes, Tribes who are studying in class 9 and 10.
    • Resident of Uttar Pradesh.
    • On July 1st, student should be between 12 and 20 years old.
    • Must be studying in government educational institutions, government aided private educational institutions and recognized private sector institutions.
    • According to the component-1 annual family income of student should not exceed Rs. 2.5 lakh.
    • Under the component-2 all income groups will be eligible.
    • All children of parent and guardian are eligible to apply for the scheme.
    • If student availed any other scholarship then he/she cannot apply for this scheme.
    • If a student's parents are not alive and have been adopted for providing education to them, they can still apply for the scheme.
      In this case, the guardian's income won't affect eligibility.
    Backward Class
    • Must be studying in a school recognized by the Central and State Government.

  • Those beneficiary fulfill all the conditions given below are eligible for apply Post Matric Scholarship under the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Scheme:-
    Category Criteria
    General
    • The applicant must be a native of the state.
    • Students studying in private sector educational institutions will get assistance till the maximum age of 40 years.
    • All children of parent and guardian are eligible to apply for the scheme.
    • Who did not avail the benefit of any other scholarship scheme.
    • For admission to a private university requiring a graduation qualification, students need a minimum of 55%.
      For courses with a minimum requirement of 12th grade, eligibility requires a minimum of 60%.
    Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe
    • The applicant must be a native of the state.
    • The academic and fee reimbursement will only be valid for professional and non-professional courses.
    • All children of parent and guardian are eligible to apply for the scheme.
    • Who did not avail the benefit of any other scholarship scheme.
    • If someone leaves their current course and enrolls in another, they are not eligible for the scholarship.
    Backward Class
    • Must be a resident of Uttar Pradesh.
    • If someone leaves their current course and enrolls in another, they are not eligible for the scholarship.
    • All children of parent and guardian are eligible to apply for the scheme.
    • 75% of attendance is mandatory in academic session.
    • Those students whose annual family income is under the prescibe limit set by state government.
    • Students whose annual family income is less than the limit prescribed by the state government.
    • Students studying in Intermediate, Diploma, Graduation, Masters, Vocational, Technical and Non-Technical courses will be eligible for this.

  • The following documents are required at the time of apply for the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Scheme:-
    • Address proof.
    • Family Annual Income Certificate.
    • Admission letter given by school and college.
    • Birth Certificate.
    • Student identity card.
    • Bank Passbook.
    • Caste Certificate.
    • Residence Certificate.
    • Qualifying marksheet.
    • Annual compulsory non-refundable course fee receipt.
    • Aadhaar Number.

How to Apply

  • Beneficiaries can apply online for the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Scheme through the official online portal.
  • Firstly students must register themselves on the portal.
  • To register, students should follow these steps:
    • Visit the Uttar Pradesh Scholarship Scheme Online Portal and select "Registration" from the Student Section.
    • Choose the eligible scholarship.
    • Fill in all the required details and submit the form.
    • After submitting the registration form, you will receive a SMS or email with login details.
  • After registration, students should log in according to their eligible scholarship:-
    • If applying for the scheme for the first time, choose "Fresh Login." For those renewing the scheme, select "Renew."
    • Enter your registration number, date of birth, and password.
    • After submitting the details, carefully review the scheme-related information displayed.
  • Once successfully logged in, select "Submit Application."
  • The application form will appear on the screen.
  • Fill in all the required details accurately and as per your documents.
  • Upload all the necessary documents.
  • Before submitting the application form, double-check all the details.
  • If there are any errors in the application form, the department will reject your application.
  • After submitting the online application, submit a photocopy of the application form with attached documents to your educational institute within 3 days
  • Upon submission, collect the receipt.
