Introduction

• In today's era, technical knowledge in any field is a key to success.
• With technical skills and knowledge, one can easily secure a good job or even start their own business.
• In Jharkhand, there are a number of youth are unemployed due to the lack of technical skills.
• Seeking this issue, the Jharkhand government has come up with a new initiative called 'Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Birsa Yojana'.
• BIRSA Stands for Block Level Institute for Rural Skill Acquisition.
• According to its name, the BIRSA Scheme will provide training to all candidates in their local areas, where they will be trained from the grassroot level.
• For this, the government has set up 80 training centers, where more than 40,000 youths were trained in the last year.
• Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Birsa Yojana training will be of minimum 300 Hrs., where 40 hrs. is for IT and soft skill.
• With this initiative, the Jharkhand government aims to impart technical skills to unemployed youths, which will open the doors of employment and opportunities.
• Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Birsa Yojana is also renowned by some other names mainly, 'Jharkhand Birsa Yojana', or 'Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Sarthi Birsa Yojana', or 'Jharkhand Birsa Scheme'.
• It is one of the four sub scheme of 'Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Sarthi Yojana'.
• Jharkhand Birsa Yojana is for the permanent residents of Jharkhand who are in the age group of 18-35 years.
• However, the maximum age for the applicants from SC/ST/OBC category is 50 years.
• Under Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Birsa Yojana, beneficiaries will get free training in their chosen trade.
• Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society is the nodal department of the scheme, which will provide the benefits stated under the scheme.
• Apart from free skill training, users will get uniforms, books, and other essentials at free of cost.
• The training under the Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Birsa Yojana will be provided at non-residential centers only.
• For non-residential centers, the government will provide Transportation allowance of Rs 1,000/- to each beneficiaries.
• If beneficiaries do not secure employment within three months after completing their training, they are eligible for Rozgar Protsahan Bhatta.
• Under this employment allowance, beneficiaries will receive Protsahan Bhatta as per their category : -
  • Boys will receive an amount of Rs. 1,000/- per month.
  • Girls/Transgender/Disabled applicants will receive monthly Rs 1,500/-
• Such allowances will be provided for the next one year directly into their bank account.
• Application form for the Jharkhand Birsa Yojana can be submitted online.
• Upon submitting applications, users will be invited for counselling on selected date and time.

Benefits of Scheme

• Beneficiaries will receive following benefits, under Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Birsa Yojana : -
  • Free Skill Development training.
  • Provision of Rozgar Protsahan Bhatta, if applicants do not secure a job within three months of completion of training.
  • Monthly Rozgar Protsahan Bhatta of Rs 1,000/- to boys and Rs 1,500/- for girls/disabled/transgender until next one year.
  • Monthly transportation allowance of Rs 1,000/- till the completion of training.
  • Free Uniforms, participants handbooks, and other essentials will be provided.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria to receive the benefits of Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Birsa Yojana : -
  • Applicants must be a domiciled resident of Jharkhand.
  • Applicants aged between 18-35 years are eligible.
  • Maximum age for SC/ST/OBC applicants is 50 years.
  • Applicants must have passed at least class 5th.

Documents Required

• Applicants will be asked to produce some documents when submitting applications for Mukhyamantri Birsa Yojana. The list of documents are given as : -
  • Address Proof.
  • Age Proof.
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Passport Size photograph.
  • Bank passbook.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Academic documents.

How to apply

• Beneficiaries can apply for the Jharkhand Birsa Yojana through its online registration.
• Online registration form for Jharkhand Birsa Yojana is available on the official website of Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society.
• For registration, applicants need to select the 'Registration' Link on the home page and select the 'Candidates Registration' from the dropdown menu.
• Before registration, beneficiaries need to create their profile, where they need to submit their following details.
  
• Upon submitting the given details applicant's profile will be created.
• Beneficiaries need to login with their 'Username' and 'Password'.
• Applicants need to validate their login credentials through OTP.
• From the users 'Dashboard' select the registration link.
• Next, users' profile details appear which can be viewed and edited.
• Thereafter, users need to provide their other details such as : -
  • Personal details.
  • Contact numbers.
  • Education qualification details.
• Upon submitting the aforementioned details, a user registration ID will be generated.
