West Bengal Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme

Introduction

• West Bengal Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme is the flagship scheme of the Government of West Bengal.
• This scheme was mainly started for the students of West Bengal.
• Many times it has been seen that due to lack of money, students leave their studies midway or are unable to pursue higher education.
• To help such students financially, the Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme was started by the Government of West Bengal.
• Monthly Scholarship will be provided to all eligible students by West Bengal Government.
• Eligible students can avail the benefit of the scholarship under Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme at the following stage :-
  • When He/ She is studying in Class 11th or Class 12th.
  • When He/ She is in Graduation.
  • When He/She is doing Post Graduation.
  • When He/ She studying any Technical Course.
  • Medical Degree Students.
  • Or any course approved from recognised institutions.
• Under the scheme, according to the course of the student, scholarship ranging from minimum Rs. 1,000/- to maximum Rs. 8,000/- per month will be provided to students.
• All the students studying in West Bengal can avail the benefits of the scheme but Minorities Students are not eligible to apply for scholarship under this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant Student should be a Resident of West Bengal.
• The Family Income of the Applicant should not be more than Rs. 2,50,000/-.
• The Applicant should have secured the following percentages in his/ her last qualifying examination :-
  • 60% for School Level Applicants.
  • 60% for Undergraduate Applicants.
  • 53% for Postgraduate Applicants.
  • 60% for Medical Degree Applicant.
  • 60% for Diploma Course Applicant.
  • 45% for Kanyashree Applicant.

• Documents that are needed to be uploaded at the time of applying for scholarship under West Bengal Government's Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme are as follows :-
  • Passport Size Photo.
  • Madhyamik Examination Marksheet.
  • Last Board/ Council/ University/ College Examination Marksheet.
  • Admission Receipt.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Domicile of West Bengal.
  • Bank Passbook.
  • Any one of the Identity Card :-
    • Aadhar Card.
    • Voter ID Card.

How to Apply

• Eligible Students can apply for scholarship under Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme through Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form is available on Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme Official Website.
• To get the benefits the applicant student has to Register himself/ herself on the Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme Portal.
• Select the Directorate and click on Apply for Fresh Application :-
  
• Fill the below mentioned details :-
  • Details of Last Qualifying Examination.
  • Personal Details.
  • Present Course of Study.
• Then click on Register.
• Then the Portal sent the OTP for Mobile Number Verification.
• After verification, portal generated an Application ID.
• Now the Applicant has to Login to the Portal.
• Applicant has to fill the basic details in the Application Form of Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme.
• Below mentioned documents will be uploaded to the portal :-
  • Passport Size Photo.
  • Madhyamik Examination Marksheet.
  • Last Board/ Council/ University/ College Examination Marksheet.
  • Admission Receipt.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Domicile of West Bengal.
  • Bank Passbook.
  • Aadhar Card or Voter ID Card.
• Then Click on Submit the Application.
• Application will be submitted and subject for verification.
• Once verified, the financial assistance under West Bengal Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme will be transferred to Applicant's Bank Account every month.
• Application for Topper and Non Topper Students for the year 2023-2024 is open for all courses.

Features of the Scheme

• Student studying in Class 11th, Class 12th, Under Graduate in Science/ Commerce/ Art/ Engineering/ Medical/ Technical/ Profession Courses are eligible under Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme.
• Post Graduate level students of any course can also avail the benefit under this scheme.
• The minimum percentage required for Kanyashree Applicant is 45 percent in all courses.
• There is no need to submit the hard copy of the application form.
• The Application will be subject to renewal every year.
• After submission of the application, the applicant will not able to edit it anymore.
• This scheme is also called Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Scheme.
• No minority student will be eligible to apply under Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship Scheme.
