West Bengal Sikshashree Scheme

Introduction

• West Bengal Sikshashree Scheme was launched in 2014 by Government of West Bengal.
• The scheme was launched to promote school education and reduce school dropouts in the state of West Bengal.
• Backward Class Welfare and Tribal Development Department of West Bengal Government is the nodal department of this scheme.
• This scheme is also known by some other major names such as "West Bengal Shikshashree Scheme" or "West Bengal Sikshashree Scholarship Scheme" or "West Bengal Scholarship Scheme for SC and ST Students".
• Yearly financial assistance as a scholarship will be provided to selected students under Sikshashree Scheme of West Bengal Government.
• Sikshashree Scheme is specifically for Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe Students so that only SC and ST students are eligible to apply.
• This is a pre matric scholarship scheme in which scholarship will be provided to those students who are currently studying in Class 5th to Class 8th.
• Yearly Scholarship of Rs. 800/- per year will be provided to all eligible students under Sikshashree Scheme of West Bengal Government.
• Those students are not eligible to apply for Sikshashree Scholarship Scheme whose parents annual income is more than Rs. 2,50,000/- per year.
• This is a DBT Scheme in which scholarship amount will be directly transferred in the bank account of the beneficiary student.
• Eligible Students can apply for Sikshashree Scholarship by filling Online Application Form which is available on OASIS Portal of West Bengal Government.

Benefits of Scheme

• Government of West Bengal will provide the following financial assistance as a scholarship to students under Sikshashree Scheme :-

  Class	Scholarship Amount (Per Year)
  Class 5th	Rs. 800/-
  Class 6th	Rs. 800/-
  Class 7th	Rs. 800/-
  Class 8th	Rs. 800/-

Eligibility Criteria

• Students should be belong to Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribe Category.
• The Annual Family Income of Student should not be more than Rs. 2,50,000/-.
• Students studying from Class 5th to Class 8th are eligible for Sikshashree Scholarship.
• Student should be a full time student studying in any of the below mentioned schools :-
  • Government School.
  • Government Aided School.
  • Government Recognized Schools.
• Only Day Scholar belonging to West Bengal can apply for this scheme.

• The following documents are required at the time of applying for scholarship under Sikshashree Scheme of West Bengal Government :-
  • Aadhaar Card.
  • Caste Certificate.
  • Address Proof.
  • Income Certificate.
  • Passport Size Photograph.
  • Bank Account Details.
  • Educational Documents.

How to Apply

• Eligible Students can apply for Sikshashree Scholarship Scheme of West Bengal Government through Online Application Form.
• Online Application Form of Sikshashree Scheme is available on Online Application for Scholarship in Studies Website of Government of West Bengal.
• Student has to Register themselves first.
• Caste Certificate is mandatory at the time of Registration.
• Fill the Registration Form of Sikshashree Scheme with basic details.
• Applicant ID and Password will be sent by the OASIS Portal for Login.
• Login in the portal with the received Applicant ID and Password.
• Fill the Online Application Form of West Bengal Sikshashree Scheme.
• Upload all the required documents.
• Then Click on Submit Button to Submit the Sikshashree Scholarship Scheme Online Application Form.
• Download and Print the Copy of Application Form and Acknowledgement Slip.
• Submit the Copy of Sikshashree Scheme Online Application Form along with all the documents in the office of Block Development Office in Rural Area and in the office of District Welfare Officer in Municipal Area.
• Concerned Authorities will scrutinize the application form, verify the certificates, finalize eligibility including amount of scholarship.
• After successful verification applicant can receive the scholarship amount of Sikshashree Scheme in their respective bank account.
• Application Status of West Bengal Sikshashree Scheme can be seen with the help of Applicant ID.

Features of Scheme

• The Scholarship will be awarded to student once per class / academic secession.
• If a student has to repeat a class, then he/ she would get scholarship for that class for a second year.
• Student should not get any other scholarship or stipend in any form.
• Student must have good conduct and attendance in school.
• Scholarship amount will be directly transferred into the bank accounts of the beneficiary.
