Introduction

• Jharkhand youth faces a lots of difficulties while seeking job these days.
• Lacking technical knowledge and necessary skills are considered to be its root cause.
• To cater to this problem and foster technical acumen among Jharkhand unemployed youths, the state government has announced a scheme.
• Operational since 2017 in the state, the scheme is known as 'Jharkhand Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra Yojana'.
• The main objective of the scheme is to provide technical skills to all eligible youths through extensive training.
• Scheme cover trades and sector requires longer duration of training and also provides on job training (OJT) to all beneficiaries.
• The Jharkhand Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra scheme is one of the four state owned schemes under 'Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Sarthi Yojana'.
• Under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra (DDU-KK) skill development training will be provided to all beneficiaries at no cost.
• Benefit of the scheme will be given to those who meet its eligibility conditions.
• Under the programme, the unemployed youth of the state aged between 18 to 35 years are eligible for the scheme.
• However, applicants of SC/ST/OBC categories will receive a relaxation in the upper age limit up to 50 years.
• To extend the scheme benefits, the government has appointed Skill Development Mission Society as its nodal department.
• The comprehensive training under the programme will be of 576 hours, including 160 hours especially dedicated to IT and soft skills.
• Training provided under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra scheme is completely residential.
• To implement the scheme throughout the state, the government has empanelled 31 training partners and established 61 mega training skill center across the state.
• These centers are equipped with a training center area and hostel area with all basic amenities.
• Sectors and trade that will be covered under the Jharkhand Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra Yojana are given as : -
  • Tourism and Hospitality, Telecom, Security, Retail, IT/IES, Electronics, Domestic Worker, Construction, Plumbing, Logistics, Capital Goods, BFSI, Beauty and Wellness, Automotive, Apparel, and Agriculture, Food Processing, Healthcare, Iron and Steel, and Mining.
• The main purpose of the initiative is to impart technical skills that will help beneficiaries to secure a job.
• In case, applicants do not secure a job within three months of completing their training, they are eligible for the Rozgar Protsahan Bhatta.
• Government will provide this Rozgar Protsahan Bhatta for the next year, which will be credited directly to the beneficiary bank account.

Benefits of Scheme

• Under the Jharkhand Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra Yojana, beneficiaries are eligible for following benefits : -
  • All students will receive skill development training.
  • Training under the scheme will be provided free of cost.
  • If an applicant is unable to secure a job within three months after completing the training, they are eligible for a monthly rozgar allowance for the next one year.
  • Boys applicants will receive Rs 1,000/- monthly as a rozgar allowance and Girls/Transgender/Disabled applicants will get Rs 1,500/- per month.
  • During training free uniform, textbooks, and other essential items will be provided.

Eligibility Criteria

• To receive benefits provided under the Jharkhand Deen Dayal Upadhyay Kaushal Kendra Yojana, applicants need to meet its eligibility conditions, which are given as : -
  • Must be a permanent resident of Jharkhand.
  • Age between 18 to 35 years.
  • For SC/ST/OBC applicants, the maximum age limit is 50 years.
  • Passed at least 5th grade.
